PROGRAM DATES: September, 2016 - August, 2017
LOCATION: BHQFU | 33 34th Street, 6th Floor, Brooklyn, NY 11232
The MFU is BHQFU's first ever year-round Studio + Teaching Residency Program. This program welcomes applications from artists working in all disciplines, from anywhere in the United States or abroad, at any stage in their career.
There is no fee to apply. Applications are due by 11:59pm EST, 20 March, 2016. Applications will be reviewed by current and former faculty and staff from the Bruce High Quality Foundation University, and up to five artists will be selected for this one-year program. Applicants will be notified of their status no later than 29 April, 2016.
The MFU is 100% tuition-free and provides 24/7 access to a personal studio (approximately 200 square feet) housed at BHQFU within the Bruce High Quality Foundation Studio at Industry City in Sunset Park, Brooklyn for a period of one year (September, 2016 through August, 2017). This includes access to wood and metal fabrication facilities, freight elevators and loading docks, opportunities to produce public programs, A/V equipment and tech support, and general support from BHQFU staff. Selected artists will participate in a weekly seminar, have the opportunity to take numerous elective courses offered through BHQFU in both fall and spring, participate in rigorous critique sessions, interface with a diverse and renowned roster of visiting artists through studio visits and other events, and become an integral part of BHQFU’s energetic community.
Selected artists will teach one course of their own design during their spring semester. Participants will also donate one original work of art created while in-residence to the BHQFU Permanent Collection. This program is designed for artists who display a keen interest in contemporary art education.
The MFU Program is proudly unaccredited and offers no degree.
BHQFU cannot provide funding for relocation to New York, or living or production expenses. We welcome applications from international artists, but BHQFU is not able to assist in visa, sponsorhip, or immigration requirements.
PLEASE NOTE: artists who will be enrolled in a degree-granting program between September, 2016 and August, 2017 are not eligible for this program.
