Delete old Address Field to create new Address segment

Hi, I tried to revise my form which has "Address" Text AREA.  Want to change it to "Address" Text BOX.

So I plan to click delete the Address Text Area field to make room for the new Address Text Box field. But the warning says "If you delete this question, you'll lose the associated data".

What does it mean, losing data moving forward?  OR, losing all history data, which is a no no?

My goal is: breaking the Address into multiple fields, so I can segment Street Address, City, Zip.

It means that the submission data, which is already on your account, from that specific field will be lost. If you want to remove it, I would recommend you to download your form submissions, before deleting the field.
