Paypal integration: Pass Description text along with total amount for the user to see what was selected?

    Can we also change the "Item Description" based on what the user selected?  This will allow the person receiving the PayPal transaction to determine exactly what was selected and how many.

    I see that you are wondering if the Item, Item Description and Quantity are shown to the user.

    Your payment integration already has an Item Description Option and there is also the Quantity and that would already show the Item, it's Description, and how many for it's quantity chosen. This is shown to the customer during this process.

    If you meant something else then please explain furthermore.

    You aren't reading my description in the original post. For example:

    We have sets of "items" for the user to select.  Within each set he can only select one and only one item within that set.

    To make it more challenging the prices change based on the selection done on the first set.

    And to add more fun, one set of items - uses quantity, can have different prices based on the # selected, for example. Based on what was selected on the first set then the price per item (event) can be the same price for every quantity of item (if 8 events then 8 * same price - easy) but if another option is selected in the first set of options then the 1st three events are one price and the 4th - 8th event is another price.  Maybe a look at the form would help:

    1st set - Membership) A. Family ($30)  B. Single ($20) C. Already member ($0) D. No membership ($0)

    2nd set - IceBreaker Event) A. Member ($25) - A/B/C selected in 1st set B. Non-Member ($30) - D selected in 1st set

    3rd set - Prepaid Events) Quantity: 0 - 8 If non-member (1.D) then simply math Quantity * $25/event. If member (1.A/1.B/1.C) then up to a quantity of 3 are $20/event then additional quantity (> 3) are $15/event greater than 3. Example: (7 quantity/events selected) then the total would be $120.00 = (3*$20 + 4*$15) = ($60 + $60)

    Would like the PayPal description to be User Name + 1st Selection + 2nd Selection + 3rd Selection and it would be displayed like this "Tim Steck FI8".  Which would mean: Tim Steck selected Family membership (F) and selected the IceBreaker event (I) and wants to pay for 8 prepaid events (8).

    The PayPal total cost would be: $190 ($30 + $25 + $135)

    Does this help?

    I think, this type of form can be what you are looking for. If you notice, all the information selected goes to Paypal:

    Then you can keep customizing it. The guide below can be of great help:

    Let me find a mock of your particular scenario in a moment

    Ok, double reading your request, here is the problem:

    Your scenario requires lots of calculations and conditionals. This can be accomplished using the calculated fields.

    However, the integration will only get the value from the calculated fields (the total price), but it won't display all the descriptions.

    The best solution for you would be to use several forms, so that depending on which product(s) the users choose to, it would show the correct form, the forms should have the same layout as my example. Otherwise, since the nature of your scenario, hiring a programmer can be the next step in order to get the right solution for your requirements.

    I was wondering if you can do something what is described in this thread (http://www.jotform.com/answers/503101-Can-JotForm-create-this-form-and-forms-like-it-realistically?entrymessage=10732640770) with the description field sent to PayPal when using the donation/custom amount option.

    We are getting the $ amount figured out what I would like to do is the same thing with the item / description field.  See this process explained with the procedure http://www.jotform.com/help/275-How-to-pass-a-calculation-to-a-payment-field.

    Yes, I've read that thread of you as well. The thing is that due to your scenario, it's required to do a lot of calculations which can be do with form calculation and conditionals. But this workaround has boundary, because passing the description along with the value it's not possible. Only the value.

    Thanks for looking at the idea, it would be a nice complement to that amount feature.  You could always put it on the wish list.  If you ever do that, please let me know so I could implement it.

    Now I will look at other things I really need to do but I think the rest should be easy ... I'll let you guys know if I can't make it work.

    Ok, I've already made a ticket with this feature request. Let's see if our developers find this feasible.

    We are here to help you with the rest of the form. Cheers!

    Not sure about TBSConsultants, but we're coming over from Adobe FormsCentral and this was a feature in their integration with PayPal.

    You could map certain fields to be products for PayPal to pick up, meaning that you wouldn't use the products list that is in the current JotForm integration.

    This way, you wouldn't need to embed the forms, but pass over a field description (from a radio button or drop down) and then an associated price/amount using a condition or the calculator.  This could be done for an unlimited number of options.

    So far... this is the only functionality I can see lacking.  Loving all the additional features JotForm brings.

    @TBSConsultants

    I just wanted to apologize for my misunderstanding previously and thank you for the correction as well as the provided clarification as for what you were actually seeking for this. Jeanette has opened a feature request for it on your behalf already so it will be something our developers look into.

    @YBDSA

    Thank you for the additional feedback about that as well as the explanation. This is actually something that is pretty much in the hands of our developers now for more cnsideration and if there's any changes then we'll update this thread. If you would like I would be more than happy to open up an additional request with the related information on your behalf if you wish.

    As anything been done to add such a feature to JotForm and at least PayPal widget(s) ?

    I'm in a similar situation right now.  I was hinted that there might be the use of a single "custom" PayPal field which I have to look more into.  At first look, I don't seem to have access to any such custom fields (with PayPal Express) ... or I'm missing it (bad eyes and getting old at my end).
