Create PDF form - with interactive fields and option to submit

Right now we're making the switch over to you from Adobe Forms Central. One of the features we used of theirs..was to download our forms to pdfs if we needed to e/mail them. You could either add a submit button or not..if you wanted their response to be sent to your submissions folder.

Granted not every field was available as you stated in a response before ..the date calendar..etc.
but the drop down fields (which are kind of a big one) DID work. I've tested downloading forms I've created with JotForm to pdf..and found that ONLY the text boxes work? That's a pretty big limitation. I thought maybe it was because I had conditions set up so I tried it without any conditions and still no go...the drop downs are just grayed out. Is this a possible future development?

    Thanks,

    Raine

I am sorry to hear Raine that you are experiencing some issues with DateTime fields so I have moved that section to a new thread where we will be happy to resolve this issue for you.

You can find it here: http://www.jotform.com/answers/519377

Now in regards to the PDF form, I will raise this to our developers so that they can see and update you in regards to this.

I can not tell you when all fields would work on it, but our developers might be able to give you a bit more details about it and will update you through this thread.

    Hi Ben,

Thanks for the reply. Actually the date/time fields work just fine on the web forms, that wasn't my issue...I only mentioned that because I already knew those fields didn't work the same way within the downloaded PDF form. They become just text boxes which is totally fine. My main concern is that ONLY text boxes work. Checkboxes..drop downs...even the phone number box doesn't work in the PDF.

So..as long as it's been passed on to the developers..I'll keep watch for answers in the future.

    Thanks,

    Raine

    Thank you for the clarification.

It seems to me that you may be seeking more of what is known in the Adobe World as a "Dynamic PDF" aka "Interactive PDF". Basically what that means is that the PDF is interactive and can easily be used and filled in after being downloaded usually while Online.

    Example: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Acrobat/9.0/Samples/interactiveform_enabled.pdf

To my own course of knowledge and previous research of this on similar occasions I think Adobe had it because they already have their own in-house coding for their Adobe PDF Software so that only made it that much easier for them to quickly implement and make it work on their side.

As of right now we only offer the pdf downloads and the create a pdf form but I think you want those more interactive as Ben has mentioned above when opening a request on your behalf.

When you mentioned on our end after you had downloaded it did you mean that you then tried to edit it and couldn't use those fields except for the textbox? Is that possibly what you meant?

Also I am wondering were you opening this with an Adobe PDF Reader and Editor? Or?

Can the client fill out a form online as normal but when they are done save it to .pdf (or somehow print it) for mailing  in order to mail it with a physical object?

I have moved your question to a new thread http://www.jotform.com/answers/521766 since it is not related to this question and we will be replying to it shortly.

We are very happy to announce that our amazing team of developers have just released the Fillable PDF Form Creator.

    http://www.jotform.com/fillable-pdf-form-creator/

The feature might still show bugs on some forms, but it works beautifully for most of the forms.

Please give it a try and let us know your feedback.
