How to remove the empty questions from the submission emails?

In the email we get, there is a lot of space taken up for no reason.

For example, we have a multi check box question with 5 options. In the email, if the user selects all 5 options, they're shown as a list with each option on it's own line.  It would be much better for us if they were just comma separated. Is this possible?

Also, we have sections of our forms that people aren't required to fill out. Is there a way to just leave out these lines from the email when there has been no data entered in by the user?

    Hello sonofwatt,

Though it is currently not possible to display the check box options in one line separated by comma but it is possible to hide the empty fields from your submission emails.

You need to actually enable the "Hide Empty Fields on Emails" preferences of your form and that should solve your problem. The following guide should help you:  http://www.jotform.com/help/256-How-to-Hide-Empty-Fields-on-Email-Alerts

Please be noted that this feature only works on an unedited version of email alert. If you make any changes in your email template body, this feature will not work anymore.

    Hope this helps.

Do get back to us if you have any questions.

    Thank you!

Is there any way to make this work with a customized layout?

We had to ditch a lot of the the HTML formatting to make a print friendly version of the email.

    Hi,

Unfortunately, hide empty emails won't work for customized layout. You will have to make sure that the default layout is present before enabling this in the preferences section.

    Thank you!
