Email Notification in XML format

  • ArielRauch
Asked on August 5, 2015 at 11:46 AM

    How can I achieve this?

Is it simply to use Text Mode and put XML syntax into it?

    Thanks

Are you trying to create your custom Email Notification? If so you can simply write text inside of body of Email Notification. You have also options to style you text, align it add images etc.

That meant that you can simply add XML inside of text area of Email Notification.

Hope this will help. Let us know if you need further assistance.

When I cloned your form I see that you have already set XML format inside of your notification. If I fill my cloned form and submit it I got mail notification in this format. XML format is shown.

Are you still facing the same problem? Or you want to achieve something else?

    Looking forward to your reply.

I think that made the trick - thank you.
    Another question:
    1. I need the download links to the attached files - what is the best way to put them int the notification so that I can afterwards   treat every attachment separately?

    2.
Is there a way to automatically remove the file from your site after downloading it?

    Thanks
    Ariel

You are asking for help with two additional questions that are unrelated to the original issue in this thread. So I have moved each of them to a new separate thread.

You can follow the moved thread links to access those questions where you will receive an answer to each as soon as we respond to each of them.

    #1 = http://www.jotform.com/answers/630980

    #2 = http://www.jotform.com/answers/630982

In the future we ask that you please only open one question per thread.

Please try to create new Email Notification.

Then delete existing content form Notification and add your XML nodes.

Here is my demo form: http://form.jotformpro.com/form/52184265813961?

When I submit my test form I get Email Notification in this format on my Gmail.

thank you for your response!you are using html mode - two problems:
    1. The xml code is wrapped with html tags
    2. the file upload link is provided as an hyperlink (html tag) and not clear text
What I am looking for is sending a text body which includes valid xml syntax which is not stripped on the way.
    Please advise,
    Thank you

    Hi Ariel,

I think you should share us the code  so we can check it. You can use sites like Pastiebin to share the XML code.

But basically, our notifier/autoresponder emails are customizable, but there are elements that aren't supported and adding them won't work because the editor will automatically strip it out. And I'm afraid that this is what happen when you switch to Text Mode and add the code.

We need to see the code and see what we can do. Also, telling us your purpose of using it this way would help us find a workaround.

    Thanks

I need the output to be read by an automation engine. The xml is simple and I tried it with:
    test
The output is "a" when used in text mode

Now when I am looking at this question the tags are again removed:) Look at the source

If the output is not correct, then that means we don't support it. Maybe, do it using our webhook instead:

    http://www.jotform.com/help/245-How-to-Setup-Webhook-with-JotForm

We have some samples here: http://www.jotform.com/help/248-Webhook-Samples. The first one is for sending a notification.

    Or, do it using Zapier:

    https://zapier.com/zapbook/zaps/2657/send-an-email-when-there-is-a-new-jotform-submission/

    https://zapier.com/zapbook/jotform/smtp/20426/jotform-new-submission-to-smtp-send-email/

Let us know if you need further help with it.

    Thanks
