As smart phone technology advances and user adoption increases, the utility of these devices has expanded as well. At HNE, we are considering taking advantage of this trend towards some of our key goals, such as administrative simplification and use of electronic rather than print media. One smart phone application (app) we are considering for development is a virtual ID card. Members would be given the option of downloading this app to their smart phone, rather than receiving a printed ID card in the mail. The app will also include functionality to transmit a copy of the ID card to your office electronically, via fax or e-mail. The transmission to the office or fax could happen instantaneously while the member is at the office.
