Bottoms-- slops, paned slops, canions, venetians
For the noble and merchant class, the bottoms are what we would call today "shorts". They fell to mid thigh or as long as mid calf. SLOPS are a full short that has a canion style finish to the bottom. PANED SLOPS are slops with narrow panes of fabric overlayed vertically. CANIONS are a form fitted "biker" short that usually fell to right above the knee or right below the knee. VENETIANS are a full "capri" style pant that fell to about the calf. LANDSKNECHT is a speicallty item as a landsknecht was a German sword for hire that loved the flamboyant style; often canions were of mixed fabrics and designs, sometimes even a mix of canions on one leg and slops on the other.
