Retrieving. Placed dummy piles at bucket to teach lines. Worked in the yard and a few runs in the field. Hoping to try this across the pond this week. Moxley did well and by the end was definitely starting to "get" that I was pointing at the bucket, and that dummies would be found there. |

Worked on more lines to the bucket in the field last night without difficulty. Next we headed to a small pond to try lines to the bucket across the pond. This went very well and Moxley had no difficulties. Since I had help, we next practiced steadiness by the blind. The shot while I was out of sight went perfect twice. The retrieve part of that sequence also went well except when my thrower gave her the pump fake and she broke. This was good as it gave me the opportunity to correct her and when we ran the sequence a second time, she did not break. Overall, I am very pleased with how the session went. |

Retrieves from bucket again. This time I spread the dummies out away from the bucket a bit in the field. This initially caused and issue as she when straight to the bucket and then searched back towards me rather than out either direction. Thus, I need to practice this a bit more to help her learn the dummies are around the mark, not necessarily right at it. Next I placed the dummy on the far side of a much larger pond. The first run was successful however she ran the dummy back. In hindsight, this caused her to become confused on her next "fetch" (in to the water or on land). In the end I called her back and resent her with a bit of stim on the e-collar (like in the basics of Force-breaking). This did the trick and she finished the next three long retrieves perfectly despite running each back. |

Healing through stakes, on and of leash Whoa training. Moxley knows the command, but needs some reinforcement. Thus I worked her with the collar on the flank. Worked well and prevented the occasional sit I sometimes get. Also useful for corrections from a distance. Moxley was definitely making progress here. Four pigeons in the field. The first bird didn't fly well so I used the collar to end the chase. The rest flew fine. Moxley located the last one particularly well and pointed nicely from quite a distance. She was steady through the report. I am getting close to working towards steady through the shot. |

Retrieve of Duck|Steadiness on Game|Retrieve of Shot Bird |
Training Day. Worked on retrieving with dummy piles away from the bucket on land for a while. Then worked on steadiness by practicing on whoa with the collar on her flanks. She is stubborn so it may take us a while. In the field she worked planted pigeons. She pointed well and held steady until the flush but broke on the flush. Need to keep working on this area. |
