just went past 112,000 miles. Bought used with 64,000 in late 2004. Some squeaks and rattles, but holding up well. |
Have replaced radiator, water pump, shocks and lower control arms. Also, five sets of brakes, two sets of rotors and plugs and wires. A/C compressor went out, but have not replaced. |
Anywhere from 12.5 - 16 mpg and with it being a 4.3 V6, I'm certainly not complaining. |
Check Engine Light came on a few times, but traced to wire grounding on frame and tripping codes. Briefly had K&N air filter, but sucked water into engine going through ditch and after draining engine of water and replacing plugs and wires, got rid of it and it still runs great. |
Had windows tinted, installed sunroof and fiberglass bed cover. Upgraded stereo to 10-speaker surround with Sirius and Ipod adapters. Brighter LED taillights and triple strobes. |

Very sturdy, takes rough terrain with ease. |
Very dependable. |
Get's about 18-20 mph on the route. Not great, but could be worse. |
Tires. I have a lifetime warranty on them through the dealer, but the tires are constantly having flats. Even had a piece of limb puncture the sidewall. |
Would love to have electric windows and door locks, this model did not come with them. |

Okay for good day, will be driving older car for mud and snow days. Needs better tires/ clearance for ruts. |
4 year old vehicle bought with 106K miles, other than electric coolant pump going out, okay. |
Averages 45 mpg on and off the route. |
Electric coolant pump for inverter went out, didn't figure it out for a while, blown fuses etc. Buy a good CAN code reader if you buy this car, and moniter the inverter temp, the car doesn't. |
Lower grill blocker, temp gauge for inverter part of engine, bench seat, scangauge, mud flaps , etc |

? I use 6 gallons of gas a day total of 70miles thats travel from home to route to home |
Heater switch is now broken for the 3rd time! Had a leake from heater core drain replaced twice the first year. Back brackets on back door broke and makes my door hit my tailights. tailights go out frequent. Had trany act up now had cylinoid unit replaced for $600 and they say that didnt fix it need new tranny! Ball joint going out and something else wrong with the suspension. Took well care with routin oil changes, air filters, brakes, tires and etc. just replaced battery |

| 14 | 2004 Honda Element |
Left Hand Drive |
Very durable on rock and washboard roads. Almost 70,000 miles and only thing replaced on vehicle is 2 motor mounts. |
Very reliable... There has not been one day this vehicle has not started up to do the route. |
I get about 11 or 12 MPG on the route. |
The only thing that might be a problem for some with the Element is the window height. It is fairly high. If you are not a very tall person, then this could be a problem. Also, if you are going to use it LHD, it is a good long stretch over to the pedals and I had to remove the console to reach the pedals. |

Best route vehicle Ive had in my 31 years.Perfect height and lots of room. I carry DPS directly to the street and also can take addressed boxholders directly to the street easily. I made a wooden tray to fit between the seats which I put handfulls of DPS mail in. Flats go into plastic bus trays that I bought at a restaurant supply store and they go on my left drivers seat. Works great! Dual controls work great! |

I am getting 19 MPG with 50/50 route and personal mileage. |
I like the console, which folds up and away. I can then put it back for personal use. The rear view side mirrors seemed small at first, as I was use to a Blazer, but you have excellent visability out the back. The remote trunk open is nice. I wish the front seat would lower further, but I have adjusted to only 2 trays in front. I tray all my mail, and carry DPS to the street. |

Can't use a magnetic sign on top, and no room for any on back. |
I put on a screw-mounted LED light bar, US Mail tire cover, and magnetic strip signs on the doors. Removed front passenger seat and rear set and put a 2-shelf table/mail tray in front and a full shelf that rests on the "lip" at the top of the sheet metal in back. The front tray holds two 2-foot mail trays, and the back one will hold five 2-foot trays across and one behind, with room for tubs and packages underneath. I've sometimes had touble fitting all the mail in for my J-route, but it was plenty big enough at mail count time. (44K prior to mail count!) |

This vehicle has been the best vehicle for the mail route consistently with most of the carriers in our area. Yes, since we have become UPS, Fed-Ex, DHL and the van mans last mile of delivery, I have had to make 2 and sometimes 3 trips just to deliver all the packages. If it was just mail, this vehicle would always be sufficient for the space. Then again, some routes I have done a very small GEO would be sufficient for all mail & parcels. Unfortunaltely, they no longer make a right-hand drive Jeep Cherokee. |

So far, so good. |
So far it always starts. |
10-12 MPG. It's BAD! |
I've had the Jeep for 4 months. No disasters so far, but a bad tire pressure warning light/gauge, and a back washer hose that came off and "washed" the inside of the car. |
The Jeep is way higher than I would like. I have boxes that are so low, I have to get out of it to gather outgoing mail or pkg's. I hung a basket to the handle of my glove compartment. I used cable ties. That gave me more room to put my parcel notifications (?), flats that I pick up, 3849's, and any other accountables or items that I need to take back into the office when I finish the route. I used to have Subaru's, which I would LOVE to have again, and used the door pocket for these items. |

16-yr-old daughter suggested that I do something to make the passenger seat slide sideways (like it slides up and back). Took the idea to a mechanic friend and he welded and bolted a second set of rails from another bucket seat onto the passenger seat of my CRV so now it slides towards the middle leaving access to the emergency brake. I can reach the pedals and have my boxholders in a tub between my seat and the door, as well as the ability to slide the seat back to normal position so the car can be used for family transportation. Works GREAT!!! |

17-19 mpg depending on how long you run the AC. |
Only the power window motor going out. |
I have made no modifications other than having the dual controls installed. The bottom of the windows might be high for a shorter person. I used a pillow in my 2003 model for a while. If you get one, have the second steering wheel mounted as high as possible. It's hard for a long-legged person to slide under mine. |

It has had problems, but I have use it for almost five years. It is holding up real good. I have had problems with it over heating. I have 630 boxes at 40 miles. I have had to put 3 switches in for the heater/air. Than again, I am in it for almost 6 hours a day for 5 days running most of the time the heater or the air so I guess under normal conditions it would be real durable. I delivered out of a 2dr 1996 Ford Explorer LH drive for 6 years and didn't have the issue with the heat and air or over heating. The Ford also turn sharper than the Jeep. If I could get a true RHD Explorer I would. The ride is defintly smoother than the Jeep. Oh! I had to put offset ball joints on it. At 6,000.00. I had already put 2 sets of tires on it. Not counting the 1 set that came with the Jeep. It does get the job done and makes it a lot better on my body than a LHD. |
I have had issues at first with the steering not properly put in. Than the wiring shorted out as I was driving in the left lane doing 65 on the interstate. I was constantly blowing a fuse in the fuse harness that would cause it to just quit. I am hoping I finally got that fixed. |
9 miles to the gallon from box to box. |
See Durabitity!!! |
Right off I had them to put power windows in it. I have added a bug sheild, rain gaurds, nerf bars, bushwackers, coolant fan for the transmission, bigger wheels and tires, tinted windows, us mail sign cover the spare tire, and a mail box on the top with lights as my mail sign. Front and back seats are out and plywood and indoor/outdoor carpet has taken their place. |

This Scout was my back up ride, Very econmomical with a 2 barrel carb and built like a tank. |
My Scout has never broken down with me on the route. Just flat tires and getting it stuck in the mudd |
I never figured miles per gallon, rather gallons per hour. My route was 86 miles and took 6-8 gallons of fuel per day. |
Primarily finding replacement parts. It isn't called an International for nothing. International quit making Scouts in 1979-1980. |
I quit using the Scout on the route in 2004 and have partially restored it. |

Very durable. Have driven 117,000 miles of rural route beating and banging mail boxes and it still looks pretty good. |
Very reliable. Have only done the necessary stuff.........brakes, tires, oil changes, etc.....have had no major problems in 7 years of route driving. |
probably about 20 mpg on route 25 mpg off route |
none so far.....knock on wood |
split bench seat which is good and comfortable. This is like my 3rd Toyota truck I have used and will NEVER buy anything else to haul mail |

14 MPG on route. The few times that I have used it to drive any distance it got 16 MPG |
Had to put a new heater core in in 2006. Straps for doors wear out so now doors open all the way, have to be careful when there is wind so does not bang against front jeep. back brackets on back door broke within 3 months so it hits brake lights all time. gets regular maintance with oil, filters, brakes and tires. have had to replace battery once. |
put permament light fixture on roof. made my on mail tray and have no back seat. |

trans. and engine overheating. At 115k miles i just had 3rd trans. And that's only the beginning. The list is very long. The dealership replaced parts 'til they could think of nothing else to try. It spent most of two summers there. |
the only reason I still have it is the RHD. I'm spoiled now! And,... who would buy the peice of crap? |

350,000 miles two transmission replacements and one rearend. Engine sounds pretty loose but still uses no oil between changes. |
Only left me on the road once when the fuel pump failed. |
20-25 depending on road and weather conditions |
Front axle shafts seem to be the weak link. |
I added Outback struts and 205/75 tires that gave about 2 inches more ground clearence. Too bad Subaru quit making these things they are a real workhorse. |
