Missouri Featured Artists Application

The Missouri Arts Council believes that artists are the backbone of our creative state. Through our Featured Artists program, we promote and support individual artists and demonstrate the variety of creative Missouri talent. Here is how it works: We feature four artists each month. We highlight and promote each month’s artists via the homepage of the Missouri Arts Council website, the Featured Artists page on the website, a monthly email, social media, and links to the artists' websites. Artists receive a $500 stipend/license fee to feature their work online. We appreciate the administrative support of Mid-America Arts Alliance. Artists must be full-time residents of Missouri. Artists of any medium with online work that they have ownership to license are eligible to participate. Mediums may include (but are not limited to) visual art, literature, music, video, dance, theater, storytelling, and traditional arts. Artists' Requirements
- Be an individual artist, performer, writer, or cinematographer. Organizations and groups are not eligible.
- Be a full-time resident in Missouri.
- Have an accessible website with numerous examples of original artistic content that demonstrates your artistry and that can be experienced online for free. (See examples of websites of current and previous Featured Artists via our website's Featured Artists page, and also details below at "link to artist's website.")
- Provide a photograph of yourself.
- Provide a W-9 form, if selected.
- Sign a licensing agreement, if selected.
- Promote the program on your website and social media, if selected.

POST THE FULL URL INCLUDING HTTP:// OR HTTPS:// An effective artist's website is an essential tool for the Missouri Arts Council to be able to promote your creative work. While your page on a social app like Instagram or Facebook page can supplement with social engagement, these apps do not effectively showcase your work, nor are they as publicly accessible or as easily managed as a website. Therefore, having ONLY an Instagram or Facebook page without ALSO having a website is not enough to be considered as a Featured Artist. On the other hand, for visual artists an Etsy shop does qualify as having a website. Also acceptable is a profile page on a site such as Best of Missouri Hands, provided that multiple images of your art are available to view at a large size (thumbnails must link to a larger image). For performing artists, having their own video channel on a publicly accessible site like YouTube or Vimeo also qualifies.
