FOR NEW ALUMNI MENTOR APPLICANTS
Apply to volunteer: Host Online Alumni Mentor Office Hours
Now recruiting for Spring Mentoring 2023
(This application may take you 10-15 mins, Thank you for your time!)
The New School Alumni Engagement Office seeks dedicated and passionate alumni volunteers to give advice to the next generation of creators and innovators! Alumni are invited to volunteer this coming March - April as part of the Meet a Mentor series, a flash (short-term) mentoring program for students, recent graduates and alumni seeking to change career paths. Now more than ever, it's so important for students and graduates to hear from seasoned alumni, like you, who can speak to real world experience and provide career advice. During Meet a Mentor sessions, alumni and mentees can discuss career advice, job hunting, networking, interviewing, resume or portfolio review, and networking with fellow alumni and New School colleagues.
Thank you, Alumni!
Over the past 4-year-history of this program over 175 alumni have offered their time to meet with more than 500 students and recent graduates. We're excited that you would like to join this group of seasoned alumni willing to give back their time and expertise.
Eligibility
To be a mentor, alumni must
- be able to navigate ZOOM for video chats
- provide an email address you are willing to share with the mentee
- have graduated before 2021
- be willing to have a positive and thoughtful conversation with both student and alumni mentees
- be willing to meet with alumni across schools and disciplines
- Applicants will be contacted by the Alumni Engagement office with further instructions and may include a phone or video chat regarding your interest.
Time Commitment
These are short-term, 45 minute 1:1 video chats. We hope you'll consider participating in 2 to 3 two hour-blocks. Once accepted, you will be able to choose your own custom hours between 8am-8pm Monday through Saturday.
Be prepared to provide your bio at the end of this form. Prospective mentees will read your bio before deciding to sign up for your sessions. Think of this as your "advertisement" to attracting mentees to choose your session.
Also be prepared to type out one piece of advice you have for students or recent graduates. (100 words or less)
About the mentees
We will focus our mentee outreach on Graduating Students and graduates of the last decade. Some mentees may be more seasoned alumni seeking advice for pivoting their career trajectory.
Thank you for your consideration!
