Magnificent Mushrooms
Beneath every forest lies a complex underground communication and transportation network, connecting fungi to other trees and plants along the Fraser! Learn about the wonders of mushroom anatomy, identify distinguishable features of common mushrooms, and discover how mushroom spores are transported through fun experiments! This month we are headed to Tynehead Regional Park, in Surrey, to learn about mushrooms around the Fraser River!
This event will take place rain or shine, so please come prepared for the weather.
Registration cost includes admission to the Fraser River Discovery Centre. Pay when you register for this workshop, and the next time you visit the Centre in-person, you will be admitted for free.
WHEN: Saturday, September 12th, 2:00-3:00 PM and with enough interest, another session might be offered at 12:30-1:30PM.
WHERE: Tynehead Regional Park (meeting location at the Serpentine Hollow Parking Lot, Surrey, BC)
WHAT:
- Learn about mushroom anatomy.
- Observe mushroom features while on a mushroom walk.
- Experiment with different spore transportation methods.
WHO: While everyone is welcome, this workshop is aimed at children and their families.
COST: Includes admission to the Discovery Centre. Specific costs are listed below:
- Family Ticket ($20.00) – for 2 adults and up to 4 children
- Adult Ticket ($8.00) – Adult 19 and older
- Senior Ticket ($6.00) – Senior 65 and older
- Student Ticket ($6.00) – Student ID required
- Child Ticket ($5.00) – children aged 3-12
- Children 2 and under register for free
