The Office of School & Adolescent Health (OSAH) helps organizations throughout New Mexico become their own experts in youth health and promote sustainable health programming within their communities.
By participating in the NMDOH-OSAH training program, you join a cohort of schools and youth-serving organizations that have committed to short-term and long-term policy changes to support our youth's physical health and mental well-being.
We are excited for the opportunity to assist you, work with your staff and community members, and cover the cost of your training. Within one week of completing this application, you will receive a response from an OSAH staff member.
Thank you for your interest in enhancing your school behavioral health program.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN:
- We encourage all schools/districts to utilize a tool called the SHAPE (the School Health Assessment and Performance Evaluation) and work towards implementing the National School Mental Health Curriculum. SHAPE is an assessment tool that helps districts and schools analyze their existing Behavioral Health resources and identify areas for improvement. SHAPE generates a tailored report to guide future improvements, that can be addressed with the National School Mental Health Curriculum, which promotes school mental health best practices.
- NMDOH-OSAH will need to work with an organizational contact person during the training process. In the event that a participant cancels with less than 72 hours notice, does not attend the training, or does not complete required pre-work, we will request that your organization cover the cost of their seat. If that contact person wishes to attend the training, they must include themselves in the participant count.
- It is the expectation that all participating individuals are informed of the purpose of the training and the training date prior to the finalization of the training roster. NMDOH-OSAH will have communication materials available, should your organization require them. Starting from registration, Kesselman-Jones, Inc., the communications firm assisting with the training, will contact training participants directly.
