Please ensure you meet the following application requirements for the 11th Annual RBC $10,000 Emerging Filmmaker Pitch Competition. You must:

be 18 years of age or older at the start of the Competition Entry Period (May 20, 2022);

be a Manitoba resident;
-
have less than three years of filmmaking experience;
-
have completed some basic training (can be formal (university or college studies) or informal (production courses, workshops, hands-on experience in media arts production)); and
-
have completed at least one independent film or video work that has been presented in a professional or film-industry-related context.
If you qualify, you will have an opportunity to pitch your project in front of a live audience to a panel of professionals at the 2022 Gimli International Film Festival. You should be able to describe your story idea, justify your budget, describe your ideal cast and crew and talk about your vision for the project.
In 2022, the winner(s) will receive:

$10,000* to make their film courtesy of RBC;
-
a $5,000 Equipment Rental Grant Certificate from William F. White International Inc.;
-
a story-editing and directing mentorship from the National Screen Institute – Canada;
-
a $500 equipment rental credit from and a one-year membership to the Winnipeg Film Group; and
-
a premiere screening of your film at the 2023 Gimli International Film Festival.
*The $10,000 prize is released in four installments. The winner will receive:

$2,500 on approval of a final script;

$2,500 on first day of principal photography;

$2,500 on completion of photography; and
-
$2,500 on delivery of finished project.
All five finalists will also receive:

a one-year Professional membership to On Screen Manitoba;

a one-day pass to All Access 2023; and
-
a pass to the 2022 Gimli International Film Festival.
