  • Submit this petition to notify the Registrar's Office that you expect to graduate at the close of the upcoming term. The form is due when you register for your final term, prior to the first day of that term.

    The form will be reviewed by your department chair and confirmed by the Registrar's Office.

    If confirmed, the graduation fee of $50 will be charged to your student account.

    Please note that failure to submit this form may delay your graduation and you may be asked to register for further courses to complete your degree.

  • NOTE: PhD concentrations are applicable only to students who were enrolled prior to 2022.

  • DIPLOMAS / CERTIFICATES

    Diplomas are release approximately 8 weeks following the last day of the term in which you graduate. You will be notified by email as soon as they are ready for release. While we recommend that you pick your document up in person, if possibile, you may provide your mailing address when you receive that notification. We use priority mail shipping to US addresses. International shipping fees are based on the destination address.

    Please indicate below exactly how you would like your name printed on your diploma/certificate. Your legal name, as provided to UWest, must be included on the diploma, but you may include middle, family, and dharma names, etc, in addition to or integrated with your legal name, as appropriate.   

  • COMMENCEMENT DETAILS

    UWest celebrates graduates with a Commencement Ceremony held on the last Saturday of the spring semester. You will receive an email from the university at the beginning of the spring semester with details about Commencement, including how to sign up to participate.    

    ELIGIBILITY 

    You are eligible to participate if you graduate in the preceding summer or fall semester or are scheduled to complete your degree requirements in the spring semester. You must pass any required dissertation defense, thesis, and/or comprehensive exam at least four weeks prior to the ceremony. 

    You may be eligible to participate early if you meet the following guidelines.

    Undergraduate

    • You will have no more than 9 units remaining after the spring semester.
    • If approved, you must register for all remaining courses in the subsequent summer or fall semester prior to participating. 

    Graduate

    • You have scheduled any required dissertation defense, thesis, or comprehensive exam and pass this requirement at least four weeks prior to the ceremony,

            AND

    • You will have no more than 6 units of coursework remaining after the spring semester.
    • If approved, you must register for all remaining courses in the subsequent summer or fall semester prior to participating.
