“Rocking on the River Christmas Boat Parade”
Rules and Regulations
- All registration forms and fees must be submitted to the Selma Charity League Boat Parade Committee. Registration deadline is Friday, December 2, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.
- Fee for this year’s event is $25 and MUST be submitted with the registration form.
- Only one entry is allowed for each registration form. Parade participants MUST follow all rules and regulations.
- This year’s theme is “Christmas Movies on the Alabama”. Participants are encouraged to decorate around this year’s theme. Vessels must be decorated with Christmas decorations.
- Vessels MUST BE ILLUMINATED! LIGHTS ARE REQUIRED ON ALL VESSELS! Participants must provide their own generator.
- No vessel may include a LIVE Santa or Mrs. Clause unless authorized by the Selma Charity League.
- Vessels must be insured and registered as required by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Marine Patrol Division. All vessel operators must have a valid Boat Operators License/Certification and adhere to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Marine Patrol Division guidelines.
- Vessels must have the proper equipment on board. The list of proper equipment can be found on the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s website under Marine Patrol Division. Participants must conduct themselves in an orderly and proper manner, observing all water and public safety and adhering to the guidelines set forth in these rules and regulations.
- ABSOLUTELY NO PERSONAL WATERCRAFTS ARE ALLOWED! ABSOLUTELY NO TOWING OF VESSELS ALLOWED!
- ABSOLUTELY NO music not conforming to conventional standards of decency, including, but not limited to vulgarity and profanity will be allowed. Participants are encouraged to play Christmas music or no music at all
- The City of Selma and the Selma Charity League are not responsible for any injury, accident, loss or damage that may occur during the Rocking on the River Boat Parade. The Selma Charity League reserves the right to deny participation on the day of the parade to any vessel not conforming to parade rules and regulations.
- Only those vessels pre-registered will be allowed to participate in the boat parade.
- All proceeds with be donated to a local charity by the Selma Charity League.
- Awards will be given out in the following categories. There will be one winner in each category. Boats will be judged based on creativity, originality, workmanship, Christmas Spirit and their relationship to the overall theme “Christmas Movies on the Alabama”.
