• THE CLAY Crew Application Summer 2023

The CLAY Crew is made up of youth, selected from across Canada, age 18-21 (by December 31st of the gathering year), who will be involved directly in leading the CLAY Gathering, while having the opportunity to participate in many of the usual Gathering activities like a regular Home Team. You apply as an individual (NOT as a group) to be in the CLAY Crew.  Members of the CLAY Crew will work in one of the main areas of the gathering: Worship and Special Events; Stage Production and Technical Support; Communication and Media; Event Planning, Registration and Administration; Creative and Performance Arts Support.  Please specify on the application which of these areas you are most interested in and why.

  • The CLAY Crew will gather for two days prior to the gathering for training, team building, learning and spiritual formation. If you are selected, you will need to arrange your travel to arrive in Waterloo by Tuesday afternoon, August 8, 2023. This preparation time will involve work with both the team and in your specialist area, under the supervision of your two CLAY Crew Leaders and a member of the National Planning Committee. There will be learning to work as a team and developing strong leadership, collaboration and group skills as a community.

If you are applying as a member of the CLAY Crew, know that the time requirement is a full six days of focused work and a commitment to a holistic learning experience – mind, body, spirit and skills.

Costs for participating as a member of the CLAY Crew:

Discounted registration costs (which include accommodations and meals from August 8 – August 14, 2023) - $287.50

Travel costs to and from Waterloo

Because you are asked to arrive earlier, the costs associated with your time in Waterloo before the Gathering actually starts will be covered.  These costs are your meals and accommodations for the Tuesday and Wednesday before the Gathering starts.
