• Youth Work Management Training of Trainers

    Weikart Center for Youth Program Quality - March 29 - 30, 2023
  • This Training of Trainers (TOT) supports leaders in developing core practices they need to facilitate and lead a continuous quality improvement process. Graduates of this TOT will gain the ability to independently lead two webinars that are critical parts of the process:

    • Planning with Data

Management TOT candidates must have previously attended YPQA Basics and Planning with Data. We highly recommend that candidates also have attended the Quality Coaching Webinar and successfully have completed an External Assessor Reliability Training.

    This course consists of:

    • Three 1-hour live virtual webinars that will focus on building community, previewing the course, establishing expectations, and providing technical assistance for navigating our online Portal system, where all course documents will be stored;
    • 2 full day in-person workshops that focus on content and facilitation (includes breakfast, lunch)
    • Approximately 10 hours of additional asynchronous distance work.

  • IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION:

    Attendance:

Participants must be able to attend all portions of the Youth Work Management TOT in its entirety to be eligible for trainer certification.

    Previous Training Experience:

Due to the nature and rigor of the Youth Work Management TOT, experience with the Youth Work Methods and/or Social and Emotional Learning Youth Work Methods as well as training experience is highly recommended.

    Health & Wellness Considerations:

The ongoing COVID pandemic has impacted our ability to host some of our favorite learning activities, and we are excited to return to in-person training Webinar and events! As we do so, we want to ensure that we are taking precautions that support everyone’s health and physical safety.

    COVID Vaccination Requirements:

For us to create and maintain a safe and supportive environment for all participants and facilitators to learn and lead, we will require proof of an up-to-date COVID-19 vaccination status as defined by the CDC prior to arrival at the training. An up to date COVID vaccination status is described as follows:

    • Two-dose series of an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna), or a single-dose COVID-19 vaccine (Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine)
    • Booster dose, if eligible.
    • Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination (an image of the front and back of your card) submitted prior to attendance via this registration form or by email to tot@forumfyi.org (Subject line: Youth Work Mgmt TOT Proof of Vaccination).

    Before the In-Person Expirience:

We kindly ask that all participants be mindful of their behavior in the seven days prior to arrival at the in-person event and refrain from high-risk activities such as gathering indoors without masks, eating in public spaces, attending large-capacity events such as concerts, sports games, etc.

    COVID Testing Requirements:

All participants and facilitators are required to test before traveling to the in-person event. Please use an FDA-authorized at-home rapid test and share a picture of your negative test result via email to tot@forumfyi.org  (Subject line: Youth Work Mgmt Proof of Negative COVID-19 test) before you leave home. If you test positive, do not come to the in-person event; contact us to arrange for participation in a future Youth Work Management TOT.

We will have additional rapid tests onsite, to administer to participants upon arrival at the event space, and available throughout the week should anyone develop symptoms while we are together.

    Masks:

We ask all candidates who test negative for COVID and depart to join us at the in-person Youth Work Management TOT to wear masks during travel via public transit (plane, train, bus, taxi/ride share) while en route to Detroit. Masks will be required upon arrival at the in-person retreat and must be worn at all times indoors when gathered as a group, unless seated to eat/drink. The group will have the option of choosing to remove masks while inside the meeting space, based on a group vote. Participants may choose to wear masks regardless of the group decision.

    Mpox:

We have been asked about any additional precautions given the recent spread of mpox, a viral infection characterized by a painful rash that is spread via close, personal, skin-to-skin contact with someone who is infected. No such contact is required as part of participation in Youth Work Management TOT.

It is not known to spread as easily as COVID-19, and mask wearing, as we are requiring for COVID protocols, may be protective against exposure to respiratory secretions, which can contain the mpox virus. Of course, if you suspect you have been exposed to, or that you might have, mpox, please do not attend the in-person event.

We continue to monitor CDC guidance regarding both COVID-19 and mpox and will update our precautions to be at least as stringent as the CDC recommends.

    Additional Precautions:

As much as possible, meeting spaces will be set up to accommodate the following:

    • 6-foot distancing amongst participants and trainers
    • open-air ventilation
    • periodic cleaning of high-touch surfaces – cleaning/sanitizing supplies will be provided by the Weikart Center for the duration of the retreat
      encouragement of frequent handwashing

    Cancellation Policy:

To receive a full refund for your registration, participants must cancel by no later than March 1, 2023

If a participant must cancel their attendance for any reason on or after March 1, 2023, a credit will be issued for the cost of the Youth Work Management TOT. This credit may be used towards a future event scheduled by the Weikart Center within one calendar year of being issued.

If you need to cancel, please email tot@forumfyi.org.
