GMEA: High School Experience is a one-day event that exposes eleventh and twelfth-grade students to careers in music education. This event takes place Friday, January 30, 2026, at the Hyatt Place Athens and Classic Center in Athens, GA, in conjunction with the GMEA In-Service Conference. Students attend special sessions led by veteran music educators, and also have an opportunity to meet with college and university representatives from around Georgia.

Students are nominated by their music teachers. Once nominated, each student will receive an email with a link to complete more information. Please make sure you have an accurate email address for each student you are nominating, and let the student know to check their spam folder just in case. Please do not submit a student's school email address. School system emails usually block addresses outside of your school system.

Thanks to generous sponsorships, this event is presented free of charge to the first 100 students to register for the event.

Chaperone Information: Each student must have a parent, guardian, or designated adult who will be responsible for the student and their transportation to and from Athens on Friday, January 30, 2026. Students will remain on site at the Hyatt Place and Classic Center from 9:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. (lunch is provided). The chaperone must be an adult. This is a requirement. Students will not be allowed to register if chaperone information is not submitted.
