  • As a volunteer foster parent for Brick City Kitties Rescue Inc, I agree to the following terms and

    1. Foster parent will provide necessary care for the foster cat(s) including food, water, litter, toys etc. Brick City Kitties may provide some of these things when available. Foster parent agrees to maintain a high level of cleanliness in the cat's living environment. Litter boxes should be changed once a day, clean water readily available and wet food provided twice a day to adults and three times a day to kittens as directed. For adult cats and kittens over six weeks, a small bowl of dry food will be available unless otherwise specified. You agree that toys with strings or feathers may only be used with supervision as swallowing could cause serious medical

    2. All members in the foster's household know about and agree to have the cat(s) in the home. No one in the home has been charged with or convicted of any animal welfare law violation, including neglect, cruelty, abandonment, etc. No one in the home has been charged with or convicted of domestic battery or sex crime. All members of the household agree to not leave open any door or window where a foster is kept for the foster's safety. Foster cats are indoor only cats and you agree to provide them with a clean bed, scratching post and toys. 3. Foster parent will take their own cats in yearly for examinations and vaccinations. Their cats must receive rabies and feline distemper vaccines. Foster parents must provide proof of a negative feline leukemia/FIV test for their own personal cats unless the foster will remain separate at all times. Pets must also be receiving all recommended preventatives

  • (flea/tick/deworming Proof of the above shall be furnished upon request. Foster's cats should be indoor only. 4. Brick City Kitties cats will be seen by a vet under the rescue account to be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and tested for FIV and FELV within 10 days of rescue. All fosters should be quarantined pre and post-spay/neuter surgery and during recovery periods and until test results and or deworming has been done and proof of negative test results for any cats in the household. The foster cat(s) is not allowed to go to any other veterinary practice without prior approval from Brick City Kitties Rescue. Foster parent agrees to bring the cat(s) to any scheduled

    5. If the foster cat(s) is in need of veterinary attention, shows any signs of illness or is lost or injured, the foster parent agrees to immediately contact Brick City Kitties Rescue. a. The foster parents will follow all instructions given to them by the veterinary staff or BCK Rescue. This also includes instructions to return the foster cat(s) to Brick City Kitties Rescue upon request. The foster cat(s) remains the property of Brick City Kitties Rescue. b. Kittens are very susceptible to illnesses. Diarrhea can become very serious in kittens. Sneezing and upper respiratory viruses can become pneumonia very quickly. If a kitten is not eating well or shows any sign of weakness, contact any of the members of BCK

    6. Foster parent will keep the foster cat(s) isolated from their own pets for the duration of their stay in the foster parent's home unless approval is given. a. Cats can be carriers for certain viruses and parasites that can be very dangerous to the kittens and show no symptoms in adult cats. Foster kittens can be incubating certain viruses that could be passed to your healthy cats and cause illness. We recommend using a separate room (bathroom, etc to safely isolate the kittens. b. Adult cats are less susceptible to disease than kittens are but there is still a risk. The isolation is to protect your pet cat and our cat that you are fostering. 7. Foster parent will provide updates on how the cat(s) is doing when the rescue contacts the foster parent. Foster parent agrees that a rescue member can visit the home at a mutually convenient time if necessary. Masks can/will be worn for the safety of everyone. It is not Brick City Kitties Rescue's intent to be intrusive but to be diligent in making sure our cats are safe and well. This does not mean BCK Rescue will be visiting your home regularly. A virtual home visit may suffice in some circumstances via Zoom, FaceTime, etc. 8. Brick City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for any events and/or damages that may occur as a result of fostering the cat(s) such as soiled carpets, scratched furniture, etc BCK Rescue will not be responsible for any additional expenses for necessary items for their foster and this

  • includes, but is not limited to, food, litter, toys, bedding, cat trees etc. The foster parent will also not be compensated as they agree to volunteer foster. 9. Brick City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for any pet fees that are charged by apartment complexes or other housing. It is the foster parent's responsibility to inform their apartment complex about the foster and pay the fee before they start to foster. If the foster parent fails to tell the apartment complex about the foster and other fees ensue, Brick City Kitties Rescue is not liable for any of those fees. 10. If a foster parent chooses to introduce foster cat(s) to their personal pets (instead of keeping them separate as Brick City Kitties recommends or if they are negligent in keeping them separate, they assume all medical risks for both the owned and fostered cat(s) associated with that introduction. Possible medical conditions may include, but are not limited to, ringworm, distemper, feline upper respiratory infection, and parasites. Any medical expenses incurred as a result of this integration or introduction will be the responsibility of the foster parent. 11. Foster cat(s) will be kept indoors at ALL times at the foster home. They will be treated like family and not isolated unless necessary as set forth above. Cat(s) must be transported in a SECURE (no cracks, no faulty doors, no loose screws, no flimsy material, etc) carrier so that the fosters do not escape. 12. Kittens are especially fragile and can be easily injured but all fosters should be treated carefully. The foster parent will closely supervise children with foster kittens and cats especially during playtime. Foster parents will also be responsible to make sure that the foster room is set up to ensure the safety of the cat(s Some dangers can occur from climbing, jumping and/or falling from heights. Foster parents are also responsible for protecting their own children from playing too rough with fosters, which could result in scratching or biting. Brick City Kitties Rescue will not be liable for any medical costs associated therewith. 13. Foster parent agrees not to foster for any other organization or independently while fostering for Brick City Kitties Rescue unless agreed upon with us and proof of testing and vaccinations are provided. 14. If the foster parent chooses to use social media to help the kittens get adopted the foster parent agrees not to post any videos or photos that show the foster cat/kitten(s) falling or climbing from heights that could injure them or using inappropriate behavior such as scratching or biting hands, scratching furniture, etc. 15. The foster cat(s) cannot be transferred or temporally transferred to another party or location without approval from Brick City Kitties Rescue. This includes pet sitters or outside family members. I agree sufficient notice must be given to the rescue should I not be able to continue fostering and you need to return the cat. A week's notice is preferred, but in some cases 72 hours will be acceptable. The cat is anticipated to stay with you until adoption unless emergent circumstances present themselves.

  • 16. The foster cat(s) is to be adopted to its permanent home ONLY under approval of Brick City Kitties Rescue and our standard adoption policies will apply. Foster parents may refer potential adopters directly to Brick City Kitties Rescue. 17. If the foster parent is interested in adopting their foster cat(s), our standard adoption policies apply. This includes completing an adoption application, as well as paying an adoption

    I understand the terms of this contract and agree that it is in the best interest of the cat(s I will abide by all of the conditions stipulated. Should I be found to be negligent or noncompliant with the terms of this agreement, I understand that Brick City Kitties Rescue can demand the return of any fostered cat(s) and terminate the fostering agreement immediately. I understand that Brick City Kitties Rescue cannot guarantee the health, temperament, or training of the cat(s) I am fostering. I, hereby for myself, heirs, administrators and assigns, fully, irrevocably, and unconditionally release and agree to hold harmless Brick City Kitties Rescue, its Board of directors/Trustees, its volunteers, individual members, all veterinary hospitals and veterinarians used by Brick City Kitties and any other previous owners, or fosters for any pre-existing or subsequent illnesses, medical conditions, damage to property and any and all other liability from any and all known or unknown, anticipated or unanticipated, suspected or unsuspected and/or fixed, conditional, or contingent, actions, causes of action, charges, suits, debts, demands, claims, contracts, covenants, liens, rights, liabilities, losses, royalties, costs, expenses (including, without limitation, attorney's fees) or damages, including but not limited to any medical costs, damages to property, persons or other pets, of every kind, nature and description, at law or in equity, in connection with or arising from while I am caring for the agreed rescue cat(s
