Conducting successful elections is only possible because of the dedicated, civic-minded poll workers who staff voting locations across Idaho. Becoming a poll worker is an excellent opportunity to actively contribute to your community and play a fundamental role in supporting the electoral system.
On Election Day, you will be working with voters; helping them register to vote, checking their identification, handing out ballots and monitoring the ballot tabulator. Other duties include:
- Setting up and closing down polling places
- Ensuring each vote is kept private
- Maintaining a politically neutral and unbiased polling place environment
- Treating each voter with respect, regardless of personal opinions
You must be able to work at least a 14-hour day (7 a.m. to 9 p.m.) on Election Day. Poll workers are paid a base rate of $145 for the day. If you complete the optional online training before polls open, your election day pay will increase to $210. In-person training before the election is mandatory, and you will be paid $50 for attending the training.
*Completing this form does not guarantee selection for work on election day. All applications will be reviewed, and candidates will be chosen based on the needs of the elections office. Thank you for your understanding and interest in participating.
