Farooq and Sayeeda Selod Family Foundation Scholarship Application for MA in Islamic Studies

In the Fall of 2022, TISA introduced a new merit based scholarship program exclusively for its students. This scholarship was made possible by Farooq and Sayeeda Selod Family Foundation, led by the esteemed former Board Treasurer, Dr. Farooq I. Selod, who passed away in May 2020 (May Allah bless him with Jannah Ameen). Scholarship committee members include members of Dr. Selod’s surviving family.
Eligibility Criteria:
1. Scholarship applicants must be legal residents of the United States or Canada.
2. In order to be considered for this scholarship, each applicant must apply to TISA and be accepted. The application link is here. https://islamicseminary.us/application/
3. The student must be a Muslim belonging to the "Ahle Sunnah Wa Jama'at".
4. Applicants must demonstrate formal understanding of the basics of Islamic studies needed to study at the graduate level through graduation from a TISA recognized program or through an assessment by a TISA faculty member.
5. The student must complete the TISA admission application and be approved by the Admissions Committee.
6. The student must fulfill the academic requirements set by TISA Academic Council (a B- or better in all courses).
7. After successful completion of the courses and after acquiring the diploma, the graduate must commit to serving the Muslim community in a leadership capacity within North America for a period of 2 years. This service can be volunteer or paid for a minimum of 20 hours per week.
8. Students must take at least 2 courses per semester in the Fall and Spring. In addition, students may apply the full scholarship to courses in the summer terms.
