    ACT TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

    As an ACT owner–builder, you're classified as a PCBU (Person Conducting a Business or Undertaking) and carry the same duty of care as licensed builders for workplace health and safety. You must complete three mandatory safety courses before starting any building work.
     
    WHITE CARD (CPCWHS1001)
    Standard construction safety induction required nationally for all building work.
     
    ASBESTOS AWARENESS (11084NAT)
    Mandatory since 2014. Required for all construction work in the ACT.
     
    SILICA AWARENESS (10830NAT)
    Mandatory since October 2023. Required when working with common building materials.
    PENALTIES: WorkSafe ACT actively enforces these requirements. Recent fines have totalled $30,000. Individuals face penalties up to $6,000.
