2025 Occoquan Gingerbread Contest

The Town of Occoquan invites YOU to enter our annual Gingerbread House Contest! Use your imagination and gingerbread to build anything from a simple cottage to an elaborate historic reproduction.

Community voting takes place during our Holiday Artisan Market Saturday, Dec. 6 from 12 - 8pm and Sunday, Dec. 7 from 11am - 4pm.

CONTEST DETAILS

We kindly ask that everyone use the online form to submit their registration. This will help us prepare for the contest in advance and ensure everything runs smoothly.

GENERAL

- Open to all ages. There is no fee and is open to the general public. Limit one entry per category.
- Categories: Traditional, Reproduction or Youth.

DIORAMA SPECIFICATIONS
- Maximum size for display boards is 18"x18"

-Displays should be family friendly

-Judging Criteria includes originality and creativity, overall appearance and appeal, effectue use of materials, neatness and use of detail.

-Adult entries must be constructed of more than 50% gingerbread.

-Youth entries may consist of graham crackers.

-Everything visible must be edible. An exception would be the mounting board and bettery-operating lights if used.

-Use of commercial kit is allowed. Use of fixative spray is allowed.

HOW TO SUBMIT
- Gingerbread Creations will be accepted at Town Hall Friday, Dec. 5 from 10am to 4pm. Town Hall is located at 314 Mill Street in Occoquan. Submissions can also be brought Saturday, Dec. 6th by 12pm. The Gingerbread Contest Tent will be located inside the Holiday Artisan Market on the corner of Union & Commerce Streets.

VOTING & WINNERS
- The public will be invited to vote for their favorite dioramas during the Holiday Artisan Market.
- Winners will be announced roughly 3:45pm in the Market Square, Facebook, and all entrants will be emailed.
- First place winners in each category will win $25 Visit Occoquan Gift Card to use at participating businesses in town.

OTHER INFO
- By entering the Gingerbread Contest, applicants give the Town of Occoquan permission to use photos of entries. Photos of winners may also be taken.
- Entries from Town Council Members, Town Staff, and Town Businesses are not eligible to win prizes in this contest.
- Entries must be collected by Thursday, Dec. 11. Unless other arrangements have been made, entries will be discarded on Friday, Dec. 12.
