Seniors Volunteering for Seniors (SVS)
SVS Volunteer Roles: *Must be 55 or older and reside in Rock County* Flexible opportunities- based on your schedule of availability. No commitment for number of hours or days a week that you must volunteer. SVS Volunteers receive mileage reimbursement at .70 cents per mile plus secondary auto insurance coverage.
VOLUNTEER DRIVER - Sign up when available to take seniors in need to medical/dental appointments, grocery runs & other essential errands.
HANDYPERSON VOLUNTEER - Provide minor home repairs & maintenance to seniors in need. Client supplies all materials required & volunteers can use their own tools if desired.
PHONE ASSURANCE VOLUNTEER - Provide friendly phone calls to seniors in need of regular connection, building relationships and breaking cycles of isolation & loneliness.
FRIENDLY VISITOR VOLUNTEER - Provide in home visits to seniors in need of regular connection, building relationships and breaking cycles of isolation & loneliness.
SVS CLIENT - I am interested in hearing more about your free services for myself or someone close (please select the service(s) below you are interested in). NOTE: clients must be 55 or older and reside in Rock County.
SVS Driving Program - Receive free rides to medical appointments, dental appointments, and to the grocery store.
Handyperson Program - Receive free minor home repairs such as changing light bulbs, smoke detectors, fixing faucets, minor painting etc. Requests must be for small minor repairs. (as volunteers are able)
Phone Assurance Program - Receive regular phone calls from a senior volunteer (as volunteers are available)
Friendly Visits Program - Receive regular in-home visits from a senior volunteer (as volunteers are available)
Intergenerational Programs
Intergenerational Volunteer Roles: *Must be 55 or older and reside in Rock County* Volunteers receive mileage reimbursement at .70 cents per mile plus secondary auto insurance coverage, or travel assistance as needed/eligible.
FOSTER GRANDPARENT VOLUNTEER - Work one-on-one with an at-risk student in the Beloit or Janesville elementary schools, providing tutoring support with math and reading as well as general mentorship.
AMERICA READS VOLUNTEER - Read with small or large groups of students in elementary schools (This volunteer role does not have an income limit or time commitment.)
FGP/ America Reads School/ Community Partner
SCHOOL PARTNER - I am the principal, social worker, counselor, or teacher for a Rock County public school, and I am interested in having Foster Grandparent/America Reads volunteers in my school.
