Part A: Introduction
1. Definitions
- "The challenge" refers to 【The Pyramid Challenge 香港兒童數學及運算思維挑戰賽 2025-2026 Cycle 2】.
- "The organizers" refer to【The Pyramid Challenge】and【Hong Kong Youth Creative Arts Association】.
- "The rules" refers to the official regulations governing the aforementioned challenge.
2. General Provisions
- The rules are established by the Organizers.
- The organizers reserve the exclusive right to amend, expand, and interpret all provisions. The latest official announcements shall prevail.
3. Scope of Application
- Unless otherwise specified, these rules apply to all events under【The Pyramid Challenge 香港兒童數學及運算思維挑戰賽 2025-2026 Cycle 2】.
Part B: General Regulations
4. Challenge Format
- The challenge is conducted in-person and consists of individual written assessments.
- Standard Mode:
- Compulsory
- Applicable to all groups
- Participants must complete a total of 30 questions within the designated time limit.
- Challenger Mode:
- Optional
- Applicable ONLY to P3 to P6 groups
- If a participant finishes all required questions early and there are at least 10 minutes remaining before the competition ends, they may voluntarily forgo their review time in exchange for one additional “Challenger Question.” This question carries the highest score value. Once selected, participants CANNOT return to the original test paper.
- Participants will be evaluated across two domains and ten criteria:

Note 1: Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Deadlines may be adjusted based on participant volume. Please refer to official announcements through the organizers’ website or social media platforms.
Note 2: After the admission ticket has been issued, participants may NOT update any application details, including timeslot, group category, or related information.
6. Eligibility
- Participants must be students enrolled in K2 to P6 for the 2025-2026 academic year.
- The categorization of participants will be based on the school grade they are attending for the aforementioned academic year or their year of birth. For participants from non-Hong Kong education systems, please contact the organizers for clarification.
- Participants may ONLY compete in categories corresponding to their school grade or year of birth, as well as in higher-level challenges.
- Each participant may register for ONLY one level. All submitted information must be accurate. Any violation will result in disqualification, nullification of results, and forfeiture of fees.
7. Grading
- This challenge employs both absolute and relative scoring to evaluate participants.
- Absolute Scoring: Each question is assigned a score based on its level of difficulty. Correct answers earn points; incorrect or unanswered questions earn zero. Total score is the sum of all correct responses.
- Relative Scoring: Participants’ scores are evaluated against those of other participants who completed the challenge within their group and are classified into six performance tiers:
- Top 1%
- Top 3%
- Top 10%
- Top 25%
- Top 50%
- General Performance
8. Awards
- All participants will receive a physical certificate.
- Those ranked in the Top 1%, 3%, or 10% will receive a personalized trophy or medal.
9. Application and Fees
- Participants must submit the electronic application form via the official website. Application is confirmed upon receipt of confirmation and admission ticket emails.

Part C: Challenge Details
10. Written Test Format
- All tests are multiple-choice questions, presented in both Chinese and English. The diagrams provided in the questions may NOT be drawn to scale.
- Participants must bring their own stationery and clearly circle their answers. No proof or calculations are required.
- Scratch paper will be provided.
- For K2 and K3 groups, test questions will be read aloud in Cantonese by the invigilator during the exam.
- All instructions throughout the examination process will also be delivered in Cantonese.
11. Schedule
- The challenge will take place from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Participants may select their preferred time slot at the application form. The time slot includes check-in and dismissal:
- K2 and K3 group: the test duration last 30 minutes, including the time required for distributing and collecting exam papers.
- P1 to P6 group: the test duration is 45 minutes, including the time required for distributing and collecting exam papers.
- Time slots CANNOT be changed after registration. Please reserve sufficient time.
- Late arrivals or absentees will be considered forfeitures. Fees are non-refundable. The organizers reserve discretion and exemption rights.
12. Rules
- All communication devices must be turned off during The challenge, including tablets, mobile phones, media players, electronic dictionaries, smartwatches, and other wearable tech with communication or storage functions. Calculators are prohibited.
- Participants must NOT talk, play, or disturb others.
- Except in special circumstances, early departure is not permitted.
- Violations will result in disqualification and nullification of results.
- Test papers, answers, and scores will NOT be returned. Final results are determined solely by the organizers.
13. Severe Weather Arrangement
- If a Black Rainstorm Warning or Typhoon Signal No. 8 is issued before 8:00 AM on the challenge d-day, all events will be rescheduled.
- If such warnings are issued during the challenge, ongoing sessions will continue; remaining sessions will be rescheduled.
- If a Red Rainstorm Warning or Typhoon Signal No. 3 is issued, the challenge will proceed as scheduled.
- The arrangements of challenge differ from those of the Education Bureau. Please refer ONLY to the organizers’ announcements.
- No further notifications will be made. Participants must keep an eye on announcements from the organizer's official website or social media.
Section D: Miscellaneous
14. Submission of the registration form constitutes acceptance of all rules, terms, and conditions. The organizers reserve the right to disqualify any participant found in violation.
15. No appeal mechanism is available. The organizers’ decisions on all disputes are final.
