  • We only recommend using Edge or Chrome browser, they are compatible with the software platforms we use. Are you using Edge or Chrome browser (recommended) or another browser?*
  • Please install the latest browser updates. Does your browser have the latest updates installed?*
  • Try opening the problematic course and/or codex/assignment in your browser's "Incognito" mode. Are you still having a problem with your browser in "Incognito" mode?*
  • Try restarting your browser and clearing your browser cache. Have you restarted your browser and cleared the browser cache?*
  • If you have done any other course codex or the screening codex, try and open it. Can you open any other course codex?*
  • Certain security software like firewalls or VPN's or antivirus software prevent certain sites (including Joy of Coding) from being accessed. Do you have any firewall or VPN or antivirus etc. software installed ?*
  • Try to use a different Internet connectivity option like a phone hotspot or an Internet connection by a different service provider. What happens if you try connecting via a phone hotspot or other Internet connection that doesn’t use your home Internet?*
  • Have you tried a different location that has a different service provider or a different security (firewall, VPN, etc.) installation?*
  • Have you tried using a different computer/laptop*
  • Quick note -- whenever you click a Pathbird link and see the gear icon spinning for more than 10-20 seconds, click the browser tab's "Reload" button.

You could also open the link in a new window (right-click on the link and choose "Open in new window" or better still, "Open in new incognito window")

We will fix this on the cloud so gear never shows that way but in the meantime just reload :)

  • If you get a dialog box error that states, "An unexpected error occured and the page crashed" when you try to open a specific codex,

In Pathbird, to the right of that codex there is an icon with three vertical dots.
Click on that icon, and then click on the "Clear all code outputs".

  • After doing any or all of the above, has your problem been solved?*
