    To provide a more accurate proposal for the development of your website, or so you may gain a better understanding of your own needs, here is a questionnaire on POS connected websites for small business retailers.

    Many web developers develop websites based in their capabilities and not so much to the requirements of the client.

    We think it is important to start with your requirements. Hence this questionnaire. It seeks to help you clarify what you want.

  • WEBSITE CONTENT.

    It is essential that you have content written and ready to be loaded to the website prior to any development is prepared. The content should include text for an About Us page, your business terms and conditions (although we can provide a standard set we use), text describing the business, text for all products to be loaded onto the site (from the products in your POS software).

    While we can help with writing web content, this adds to the cost of the site.

  • How important is it that the website offers the online purchase of products?*
  • How important is it that the website promote your physical shop? Some websites focus only on online and ignore a physical shop.*
  • Have you thought through the requirements of packing and shipping goods sold online?*
  • Which shipping methods and options would the website need to handle?*

  • Do you want the site to offer free shipping if a purchase is greater than a certain amount?*
  • Do you need help registering a domain name?*
  • Do you want to list products from multiple retail locations on your website or only from one location?*
  • Websites structure products into departments and categories as you would have them setup in your POS software. Are your products setup today how you want them structured online?*
  • Photographs of products are important for online sales. Do you have photographs loaded in your POS software already for the items you want to sell online?*
  • If you do not have photos in your POS software, do you have them in some other form, such as on a USB stick from suppliers?
  • If you do not have photographs already for the items you want to sell online, have you approached your suppliers for photos?
  • Do you want to be able to sell products based on colour, size and style?*
  • Do you want to be able to sell products only on the website that will not be in your POS software?*
  • Which of these functions / facilities do you want on your website?

  • Do you want the website to be hosted for you – on a computer in a secure location? If you say no we take it you want to do it yourself, including hosting, even though this is rare.*
  • Do you want email setup for and hosted by the website so people can email you using an email for the web domain name? Like sales@towersystems.com.au where www.towersystems.com.au is our own domain name.*
  • What payment methods do you want the website to handle? Note: Oxipay and Afterpay are buy now pay later programs for which you would need to sign up directly.*
