The AUArts SA Hear/d Residency is an on campus wellness initiative. This six-month artist residency asks students to create work centered on the theme of healing and recovery as related to mental health. The Hear/d Residency invites participants to collaborate on researching, developing, creating, and curating an exhibition that allows our community to safely explore these themes, while offering hands-on experiences that directly relate to the fields of art, craft, creative research, and design.
The Hear/d Residency will have its own central theme of resilience, relating to the journey of mental health issues currently experienced by many post-secondary students. Given this theme, participants are invited to explore and share their journeys in a creative and innovative way.
This is a great opportunity to see what it’s like to be a part of a collaborative exhibition that creates real impact in your community. The Hear/d Residency will culminate in an exhibition where the participating students will have a fantastic opportunity to network and share their work. Alongside the workshops and mentor feedback, this gives students a chance to explore possible career paths while enhancing their resume and CV. AUArts SA will also provide each participant with an honorarium to support the time, resources, and materials required to participate in the program.
This year’s residency will begin in October 2019 with exhibition dates from April 2 - 26, 2020.
