• Frank E. and Inez L. Mussehl Scholarship Program

  • Applications are now being accepted in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) for the Frank E. and Inez L. Mussehl Scholarship. Scholarships up to $2000 per year are awarded to current undergraduate students who are interested in a career in the poultry industry. Undergraduate students from animal science, biological systems engineering, food science and technology, veterinary science, agribusiness, and other degree programs with a poultry emphasis are eligible. Current Mussehl scholarships recipients may re-apply.

  • Requirements

    • Applicants must demonstrate high scholarship
    • Provide evidence of their interest in a career in the poultry industry after graduation. Examples include, but are not limited to, animal production and health, meat and egg processing, poultry research, poultry waste management, poultry nutrition, environmental quality and safety in poultry, and product promotion in the poultry industry.
    • Recipients of the awards may re-apply for annual renewals.
      • Renewals will be granted on the basis of academic performance and continued interest in a poultry industry career as demonstrated by courses completed, work experience, and summer employment and/or internships, and the number of students completing the online application for the Mussehl Scholarship.

     

    • Complete the online application.
    • Provide one letter of reference (information on how to submit this to the CASNR Dean's Office is below).
    • Provide a Statement of Career Intentions (half-page essay - this space is provided for you below).

    Your application information may be provided to the University of Nebraska Foundation or Donor in order to aid in choosing a recipient, invite you to attend a scholarship meeting/luncheon with the donors of your scholarship or provide more information or promote on your award in their publications. Scholarships may be changed or discontinued by the donor at any time.

    Applications must be completed and submitted by May 1, 2026.
