    MassCEC offers incentives for residents to install qualifying air source heat pumps designed to provide all of their home’s heating needs. For more information on the program, please review the MassCEC Whole Home Air Source Heat Pump Pilot Manual.

    Applications must be submitted and approved before project installation.

    Before starting your rebate application make sure that you have the following documents:

    • A copy of the Participants Agreement signed by the System Owner (found here ).
    • An electric bill (showing the site address - new construction can submit at project completion)
    • Proposal for installation (showing model numbers and site address)
    • Manual J heat load calculations (showing heating load at design temperature)
    • If applicable, income verification (see this page for more info)

    Only customers located in service territories which contribute to the Renewable Energy Trust are eligible for the MassCEC Air Source Heat Pump Program. Electricity customers of Eversource, Unitil, and National Grid, as well as the Ashburnham, Holden, Holyoke, Russell and Templeton municipal light plants are eligible for the program.



  • Home Energy Assessment Date

    Rebate recipients must have had a home energy assessment within the past 4 years. New construction projects are exempted.

  • **The MassCEC Whole-Home ASHP pilot is only open to existing homes that are replacing natural gas. Existing homes with oil, propane, or electric heat should explore the incentives available from Mass Save at https://www.masssave.com/en/saving/residential-rebates/electric-heating-and-cooling**

    80%-120% of State Median Income $3,750
    <80% of State Median Income $5,000

    Note: Projects that meet the definition of Affordable Housing in the Program Manual will receive the $5,000 rebate per residential unit.
