Arizona SNAP CAN is a community-based employment and training partnership that provides employment readiness opportunities to eligible SNAP recipients. Services are provided through SNAP CAN Partners that are dedicated to connecting participants with the tools and resources they need to overcome barriers and obtain employment.
Goal: To leverage existing employment and training expertise in the community that will provide meaningful, intentional opportunities for SNAP recipients to move toward career pathways to achieve self-sufficiency with living wage employment.
Model: Arizona SNAP CAN utilizes a 3rd party partner reimbursement model that leverages non-federal funds used for employment, training and supportive services to SNAP recipients. This model promotes growth, expansion and sustainability of much needed services and programs for SNAP recipients in Arizona. SNAP CAN directs 45% of the total cost of an allowable service back to the organization that provided the original activities. Reimbursement is only provided if allowable activities are initially paid for with non-federal funds that are not used to match other federal funds.
