    This application contains all of the forms, rules and regulations, and information needed for a candidate in the Southwestern College SGA Elections.

    Dear SGA Candidate,

    Thank you for applying to become a member of the Southwestern College Student Government Association.  By merely involving yourself in this election process you are taking an important step in helping our college to become a better place.  Regardless of the outcome, your efforts are respected and appreciated.

    Enclosed in this Election Packet are all the necessary forms and rules regarding the election process. Please take the time to carefully review all rules and regulations concerning campaign materials, deadlines for forms etc.  Once you have received this Election Packet and filed for a position, you will be responsible for upholding these rules and regulations.  Failure to comply could result in disqualification from office.

    The Elections Committee is committed to helping you run a fair campaign.  Please feel free to contact any member of the committee with questions or concerns that you may have.  Every attempt will be made to ensure that the entire process occurs in an environment of fair play and clear communication.  We ask that this courtesy be extended by all participants to each other and the committee.

    Timeline for the SGA Senate Elections

    Packets available: Wednesday, September 3

    Packet Deadline: Wednesday, September 10 (by 5 p.m.)

    Campaign: September 3-12

    * If you wish to campaign during Campaign Week, you must turn in your petition prior to posting. If you have questions contact sga@sckans.edu

    Elections: Friday, September 12 (11 a.m. - 1 p.m.)

    Senators Announced: Friday, September 12 (by 5 p.m.)

    First Senate Meeting: Sunday, September 14 at 7 p.m.

     

    Selection Process

    The election process is extremely selective. You will be required to complete this application, as well as:

    1. Interview with SGA Executive and Campus Life Director or Dean of Students (if interview is needed - for hired positions only)

    2. Elected positions provide a petition of 50 undergraduate, currently registered, student signatures to be considered for a position (download packet below)

    3. Submit 1 evaluation form from a professor or full-time staff member

    If accepted you must be active for one full academic year

  • FERPA Release for Disclosure of Student Education Records

  • I, the undersigned student, hereby grant permission and authorize Southwestern College to disclose information in my education records, including but not limited to cumulative credit hours, competed semester hours, semester and cumulative grade point average pursuant to the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (“FERPA”) to the Student Government Association of Southwestern College.

    This release and authorization allows for the ongoing exchange of education records and information between Southwestern and the Student Government Association of Southwestern College. I understand that I may revoke this consent, in writing, at any time but revocation will not affect disclosures previously made by Southwestern College prior to the receipt of any revocation.

    I agree to release Southwestern College and its past and present officers, employees, agents, and successor, to the maximum extern permissible under law, from all claims and liabilities for damages, known or unknown, that may result from compliance with this authorization and release.
