Form Builder [Help Us Translate JotForm]: Ability to provide the original string to be translated. ~ (WITH DEVELOPERS)

    HI, FYI

I'm creating a French form, 63466862283970. I changed my account to use French.

When I use the field called Email; it adds it and names it Email...

A better term would be: Addr Électr  (address elect)... this the proper term used in Canada,

another is; Courriel (MailElect)... Perhaps there other terms but using Email is not the right one.

It's name is easily changed of course but we shouldn't have to.

You have proper names for the other fields under; Quick fields; and by the way proper French name for this would be, Options rapides followed by Options élémentaires, Options de sondage, Options de paiement, Plus d'options.

These are suggestions and are open for improvement, but using english is incorrect.

    Thank you! Merci!

    Regards
    Robert

I have checked the Form Builder using french as default language and I can see what you're referring to, please do note that while you're using another language than English you could help to translate it, to do it, please click on the link right below the language drop down:

Form Builder [Help Us Translate JotForm]: Ability to provide the original string to be translated Screenshot 30

You will then get a pop-up where you will get some strings in the original language (English) so you can input the proper translation, this will help to translate the field's labels and other parts too:

If you have any question, please do let us know.

    Hi,

Thank you for pointing this out. I am by no means a translator but I will offer some suggestions for words like Email. I have a friend who translates for a living so I will ask her before submitting a suggestion.

    1. When making a suggestion for a change, what is the process for implementing it?

    2. Do you have people who are fluent in a language who would approve the submission?

    3. How long would it take?

    Regards
    Robert

    Hello Robert,

#1. Please note that when you make a suggestion to correct the translation, the suggestion comes to our workflow system. Our team verifies the translation before it is approved.

#2. Yes we do have people who can verify the translation.

#3. We cannot give you a timeline on when the translation will be approved but our team keeps monitoring the suggestion workflow.

    Thank you!

    Hi,

I'm having a problem finding this link. When I change the default language I go th my account and settings. There is no drop down there.

    Please advise.

The dropdown and translation are at the very bottom right of our website.

This guide here https://www.jotform.com/help/55-JotForm-Languages might help some as well.

OK... I got it! ... But how do I submit the word or phrase I want to translate?

I just keep getting options I don't want with no possible way to edit what I want to.

Every time I hit "Suggest Translation" I get something new but not what I want to add.

Where do I input my suggestions?

    Regards

While helping to translate words it will show the suggested text randomly, when you translate it and click on "Suggest Translation" this is received and checked, if the translation is approved then it is implemented in the website.

If you want I think we could forward this to our second level as a feature request where you are also allowed to suggest the sting as well as the correct translation, following the same process and translating short texts.

    Hi,

Yes I think that would be a great option. Someone finds text or a word in form builder to be translated enterers the text above and the relevant translation below, perhaps with a reference as to where it is located, an image would help. Yes forward to second/ third/ forth level or to the man himself

As to the Email text, how do I forward that translation now?

    Thanks for your help!

I will forward this thread to our second level now, but do note that we cannot provide an ETA or ensure this will be implemented; however, we will let you know as soon as we get updates regarding this.

At the moment you are only able to suggest the translations as explained above, translating the suggested strings.

We will let you know as soon as we get updates regarding this feature request.

    @AA_C,

I just wanted to let you know that yesterday I have updated the string "Email" to be translated and shown as "Addr Électr" in the form builder when French is used, this has been effective today and the change seems to be live now:

Form Builder [Help Us Translate JotForm]: Ability to provide the original string to be translated Screenshot 20

Could you please check on your end and let us know that you can see the change on your end too?

    Looking forward to your response.

    Hi,

I understand you have a designed process to help translate forms ... but .... I have another for you to look at. I asked my friend to review my  translations and this is the result of our work on one page. It is for setting up a calendar. I made an image of the page with it's mix of English and French and we offer this up for you to review. offered changes are in red text.

I hope you can use this to help the process along.

    Seasons greetings;

    Regards

Oh and I made suggestions for:

Quick fields; and by the way proper French name for this would be, Options rapides followed by Options élémentaires, Options de sondage, Options de paiement, Plus d'options.

I wouldn't want to see these get forgotten.

If you would prefer I use the other described method you have in place and not add to this thread please let me know... I will stop forthwith!

    Seasons greetings;

    Regards

    Hi,

Your not answering my question... Was all my work above in vain?

    OR!

Did you just tell me to .... Wait !  and not do anymore of this?

    Hello Robert,

No we appreciate the time and effort you have put in translation and it not in vain. Its just that our workflow currently does not allow editing the original text or adding a new string along with translation.

This feature request is already forwarded to our backend team and one of our developer is already looking into this. Unfortunately we cannot provide you an ETA on this but we will get back to you as soon as this feature is implemented. Once this is implemented, we will add all your suggestions in our workflow.

    Thank you!
