How "Continue form later" option works?

Hi, I'm exploring Jotform, and loving what I'm learning. I tried your demo, and i was emailed a link to continue filling out the form at my convenience - which is awesome.

If I'm embedding the form on my site, what happens? Will a client be able to fill out the form and go through each of the pages of the form, and have it autosaved? If yes, what kind of link is sent via email? is it a link to a jotform page like the one I received from the demo form, or a link to the page on my site that displays the form?

    Thanks for your time!

I'm glad you like our Service and I hope you will continue to use it!

Regarding the continue later option. If I understood you right, you would like to have an option that will enable your customers to fill the form and if they didn't finish to continue later, to turn it on please follow:

    1. Go to Preferences:

    2. In the advanced section just Enable Continue Forms Later:

How it works is you start filling the form and you decide to continue later so you close the tab/window. When you want to continue filling of the form you just open the form URL again.

So, you can send to your users a link to your form and if they didn't submit their form when they open that link their data will be there.

    Hope it's clear now.

If you have any additional questions please let us know we'll be glad to help.

    Thank you!

    Hi Nik_c,
Thanks for the response. Yes, that was largely my question. What I'm most
interested to understand is how 'continue forms later' works when the form
is embedded on my site. Can they return to the same page and continue
filling it out? Is the link that's generated and emailed to them relative
to my site, or to jotform?
God bless, and have a great day,

    Hi,

It seems that you are referring to the Save Forms and Continue Later workaround. Here's the link: https://www.jotform.com/help/97-How-to-Save-Forms-and-Continue-Later.

Can they return to the same page and continue filling it out?

Yes, that is how the save and continue forms later work. They just need to click the link provided in their email if they needed to continue the form.

Is the link that's generated and emailed to them relative to my site, or to jotform?

This function uses session parameter based on the email sent to the user if he/she needs to continue the form. I'm afraid that it might not work properly if the form is embedded on a webpage. Please take note that if the user clicked the continue link in their email, they will be redirected to the direct form.

If you want to know more about Continue forms later feature, here's a complete guide: https://www.jotform.com/help/227-How-to-Enable-Auto-Fill-on-Forms

    Hope that helps. Thank you.
