    Configurable with Caclulations

Asked by lmaine on December 19, 2016 at 04:04 PM

I need to incorporate a survey that will calculate a total for each Subcontractor and also allow the participant to add as many Subcontractor's as necessary. Do you have any suggestions as to how I could do this?

Hello, from how you described it, you need 2 things:

    1. A field that allows unlimited entry (as many as the user wants to add)

    2. A way to tally the results of each column at the very bottom (just like the sheet shown on your screenshot)

I'm afraid there's no way to achieve them both. Each of them are doable though but not at the same time.

You can achieve #1 above using the Configurable List Widget (your current setup) but the calculation wouldn't work the way you want it to. There's no way to tally/compute the total of each column.

You can do #2 above if you'll use the Matrix Field, BUT it won't allow your users to add as many as they want. They can only go as far as to how many predefined rows you will set it up with.

The only way around this is to decide which way you'd go to - And IMO, it's better to go with the Matrix Field and just set an ample amount of rows for your users.
