    Paypal accounts which to use?

Asked by vincentccw on May 23, 2012 at 02:33 AM

I'm using a jotform's paypal to sell my clients products, but I see there are 2types of paypals to choose form, I have read the documentation from paypal but still have some doubts regarding how it works:

    1. Do customer "need" to sign up a paypal account when using paypal/paypal pro to sell online?

    2. Will customer "need" to sign up paypal account if they are using credit card to pay?

    3. The core difference with paypal and paypal pro is allow user to complete transaction within my website, which I already know, but other than that what is the pro and cons for each of them?

    4. I already have a paypal "personal" account, can I link my account to paypal/paypal pro to sell and receive money online?

    5. I also planning to create a paypal business account for my clients, but there are 3 types of business account:
"Standard", "advance" and "pro"......Let say I apply the "advance account" can I link this account to jotform's paypal/paypal pro payment gateway?

    6. Last but not least after receive payment from customer through online transaction, how do I withdraw the money from paypal from local bank(for example: local bank in Malaysia)?

The 1st Paypal option on the payment tools is the regular paypal account.  You can make a purchase with the account or receive payment from people who only have Paypal accounts

The 2nd Paypal option is the Website Payments Pro account version.  With this type of account, you can accept payments via credit card, without the need for the purchaser to have a Paypal account.

So to answer your questions in detail:

    1. Do customer "need" to sign up a paypal account when using paypal/paypal pro to sell online?

-> Yes. You'll need to create a paypal account to be able to use them as your merchant gateway

    2. Will customer "need" to sign up paypal account if they are using credit card to pay?

-> For Paypal (standard), yes. Paypal Standard does not come with Paypal's virtual terminal which can processes online payments.
-> For Paypal Pro, no.  This acccount comes with a Virtual terminal

    3. The core difference with paypal and paypal pro is allow user to complete transaction within my website, which I already know, but other than that what is the pro and cons for each of them?

-> If I'm not mistaken, the fees are different between the two types of payment tools.

    4. I already have a paypal "personal" account, can I link my account to paypal/paypal pro to sell and receive money online?

-> Yes, simply add your paypal username for paypal standard payment tool in your form editor, add your products, and you're ready to go!

    5. I also planning to create a paypal business account for my clients, but there are 3 types of business account:
"Standard", "advance" and "pro"......Let say I apply the "advance account" can I link this account to jotform's paypal/paypal pro payment gateway?

You can have the advance account integrated with your form using the paypal standard payment tool. Unless the advance account comes with an API Username/Password and signature.

    6. Last but not least after receive payment from customer through online transaction, how do I withdraw the money from paypal from local bank(for example: local bank in Malaysia)?

There are affiliate banks which you can automatically transfer via online the money from your Paypal account, to your local bank in Malaysia.  Here is a site that talks about how to withdraw money from Paypal in Malaysia: http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/how-malaysians-can-withdraw-directly-from-paypal/

You may also contact Paypal through their contact us page for further details regarding their accounts.
