Need "Future Value" formulaAsked by amazingemarketing on December 28, 2016 at 02:10 PM
I am working with a financial client that want to create a Retirement Income Calculator. In order to do the necessary calculations, I will need to use the FV (future value) formula, PV (present value) formula and the exponential formula. Is there any way the JotForm can do these complex financial calculations?
FV = Financial Future Value
PV = Financial Present Value
There are two ways you can perform calculations in your form.
First: Using the Form Calculation widget
Second: Using Update/Calculate Field conditional logic.
Then, use the available Math Functions to perform complex calculations in your form.
Check #13 pow from the guide above. It's the one used to perform exponential computations.
I hope this helps. If you have any further questions regarding this, please feel free to contact us again anytime and we will be glad to help you.
Thanks for the reply. Based on looking at the available formulas, the exponential formula is available, but not PV (present value) or FV (future value). Does anyone see something that I am missing?
Are you referring to the same computation found in these articles I found over the internet?
If you can give us your sample computation involving each formula maybe we can give you a sample form that is if it can possibly be handled by our forms.
We will wait for your response.
Yes, here is the Life Insurance Calculator:
This sheet actually has all 3 of the formulas that I am trying to create.
Thanks, the sheet helped a bit but without financial backgrounds, we may not be able to give you the actual formula needed. If you can give us the actual formula, it would help a lot.
All I got from your sheet was that you're using the Financial formula for PV in Google Sheets and you're feeding 4 values in it:
If my understanding is correct, this is how PV was supposed to be calculated:
PV = CF/(1+r)n
CF = cash flow in future period
r = the periodic rate of return or interest (also called the discount rate or the required rate of return)
n = number of periods
If you could point feed the exact values, along with the corresponding formula, we would have a better understanding on how to craft the calculation within JotForm (in case it's plausible). Hoping to hear from you soon.
You are correct. I think that either JotForm has the PV and FV financial formulas or it doesn't. It is too complicated to calculate them manually and would be an existing built in formula (similar to SIN, COS, TAN etc.) within JotForm.
I appreciate your efforts, but I don't think JotForm has this functionality already built into it.
Yes, we don't have an innate or built in formula for financial calculations. Nonetheless, if you still need help, just get back to us with the actual formula you're using and we'll see if we can come up with a respective calculation.
