How was a submission able to bypass required fields?

Today one of our contact forms recieved a submission where the user was able to submit their form without filling all of the required fields. The fields they left blank were the the phone and address (the only one appearing under address was "Country: Please Select") fields that were added via the quick tools.

We ran a test message to see if fields could be bypassed by using spaces in place of words and that worked aside from the "Select Country" option requiring an entry. Do Jotfoms not validate for characters and only require an entry? How were they able to bypass the select country dropdown? Is this a bug or something the user happened to know a work around for?

If the javascripts are disabled, the user might be able to by-pass the required field checks. So, it is possible but it should only happen in very few cases.
