Hello.
I am looking to use a form builder to collect data and update a database.
there are a lot of packages that do this. I do not just want to receive an email that I have data.
I wish to be able to search the database and run reports against it
Ie timeclock entries for staff.

Hello David,
Yes, you can use JotForm and save it into your MySQL database.
Here's a guide: http://www.jotform.com/help/126-How-to-Insert-Update-Submissions-to-Your-MySQL-Database-Using-PHP
You can also use webhook to send the form data to your database http://www.jotform.com/help/248-Webhook-Samples?.
JotForm has form submissions page too where you can view all your form submissions be able to search specific submission. http://www.jotform.com/help/269-How-to-view-Submissions
You can also generate reports out of your form submissions page.

Exporting your form submissions data to Excel, CSV or PDF is also possible.
