I am not familiar with databases just yet, and I have been assigned a project where the employees and customers enter information, and they should be allowed to go back and edit it if they want as well as check the status of their case. They are provided with a Unique ID, that part I got taken care of, the part that I am not familiar with is having them edit the forms using their Unique ID to search their case and linking all that to an SQL server. Please help!

Regarding to the first part of your inquiry:
"customers enter information, and they should be allowed to go back and edit it if they want as well as check the status of their case"
You can either create an autoresponder to let users to update their submissions on a later date,
Or create a form with save and continue later feature , in case they have not completed the form yet, both method use a unique ID for each submission.
However, I guess you would like to have the users to update the information into your database. There is a workaround for this, but you would have to implement it into a PHP/MYSQL environment in order to make Jotform to work. Please check this guide for more details.
