I need to put a table with text on my form.

Here is what I understand:

To add a table, insert a matrix and change the input form to "text." Okay great.

However, I need the text box to expand much farther than it does... I can make the columns wider but I need the actual text area to be extended. Is this possible?

I have attached an example of what I am looking for. 

We can increase the column width of the Matrix field by injecting custom CSS code. Please create a Matrix table in your form and let us know what columns would you like to increase the width.
