Does this only work on NOTIFICATION emails because in the example above this is what you are using. I cannot get it to work on Auto-responders.

It is also possible to use SMTP for autoresponders. May I ask what kind of issue are you experiencing when setting up SMTP for your autoresponder? Please note that the same steps apply for setting up SMTP on autoresponders.
I checked your latest form and it looks like you have set your own email address as the sender email, so it seems that the SMTP was setup successfully.
