    Emails from JotForm have SPF error

    Asked by clipinhair on June 22, 2012 at 09:16 AM

    Hi,

    Of late the emails from form submissions are coming through with a whole section of junk at the top of the mail. A typical example is:

    Content preview: Contact Question Answer First Name asd asd asd Contact Number Email ...@gmail.comComment ....... Please let me know what I need to do to stop this from continuing.

    Thank you!

    That looks like a message generated by your e-mail provider. It might have something to do with the notification using the user-submitted e-mail address as the sender e-mail. It's probably causing an issue with your provider as the e-mail message acutally came from our servers, and not from the address specified by the user.

    Try changing the notification's sender address to noreply@jotform.com, then set the user-submitted e-mail as the Reply-To E-mail.

    Let us know if the issue still persists even after applying the changes I proposed.

    Thanks for your help Neil. Changing the settings as you suggested does remove the junk in the mail, but it doesn't seem that the Reply-To address is working, as the mail comes through now with sender and reply-to address both as noreply@jotform.com.

    Is this a bug or is there something wrong on our side?

    @clipinhair,

    I can't seem to reproduce the problem. I just tested your form and set Sender-Email to noreply@jotform.com and Reply-to Email to Email and they work fine. Can you please try to reapply the said settings? That should really work.

    Let us know if the problem still persist on your end. Thank you.

    Apologies for this inconveniences. Can you try recreating your form notification? Just please delete your current form notification and create a new one with the same settings, I think this should fix the problem.

    Please update us the result. Thank you for your patience.

    @clipnhair

    I have just found a bug with JotForm's notification system. It appears that when the notification template is edited, the Reply-To Email feature will not work as intended.

    I have already submitted a ticket to our developers to rectify this issue. We will contact you if there are any updates.

    In the meantime, recreate your form notification and keep it as it is. Do not change the template in any way so that the reply-to email works.

    Ok, thanks very much for clarifying that. I've used default template and it works.
