Campaign Monitor Integration: Add "opt-in" checkbox option to confirm user agrees to be added in subscription

    Hello!

Our company is being careful with email gathering, and we want to ensure that we are only adding email addresses collected on our form after the user has 'opted in' with a checkbox on the form.

Is there are a way to do that already? I am having difficulty trying to achieve this.

There is no option for optin method in the integration settings. You need to do it on your Campaign Monitor list settings. See this screenshot for the list option:

If you have an existing list, you just need to edit it and select as shown in the screenshot.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

Thank you for the quick reply.

However, this option doesn't allow for compliance with existing and new data collection laws coming into effect in Europe (that explicit consent must be given before the data is collected).

One way I've tried to get around this is just add a checkbox to the form with the consent, and then run the data through Zapier before getting to Campaign Monitor. But Zapier is having an issue recognizing the 'Yes' response. Any thoughts on what I should do to connect more seemlessly with Zapier?

If consent is given in the form and the user has to opt-in with campaign monitor, do you require more validation?  The user would be giving consent in the form for the data to be collected and then opting in via email for campaign monitor.  I believe they are not added to any lists unless they opt-in.

Well, the new EU rules are quite strict with how the process should be handled. Users have to have an opt-in function on the original form (a check box) opting them in. Which is straightforward and ideal for growing our lists anyway.

However, the CM integration doesn't currently support that. All submissions are automatically added to the list. I'd prefer to use the integration so it's a simple two-step process (Jotform > CM), similar to how the MailChimp integration is done. Any chance of that possibility?

The other way around is three step (JF > Zapier > CM), but even that I haven't gotten to work. Zapier is having difficulty recognizing the checkbox.

I really love the Jotform platform in my 24 hours of using it. I'm convinced that I'm going to convert all our company sites to using JF forms. This is the only hangup I've come across. Any help will be greatly appreciated! :-)

Below is the text from the new regulations
    http://ec.europa.eu/justice/data-protection/reform/files/regulation_oj_en.pdf

    #32

"Consent should be given by a clear affirmative act establishing a freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous indication of the data subject's agreement to the processing of personal data relating to him or her, such as by a written statement, including by electronic means, or an oral statement.

"This could include ticking a box when visiting an internet website, choosing technical settings for information society services or another statement or conduct which clearly indicates in this context the data subject's acceptance of the proposed processing of his or her personal data. Silence, pre-ticked boxes or inactivity should not therefore constitute consent.

"Consent should cover all processing activities carried out for the same purpose or purposes. When the processing has multiple purposes, consent should be given for all of them."

    Hi,

I presume you are looking for a similar option like this found in MailChimp, as you have mentioned:

Campaign Monitor Integration: Add opt in checkbox option to confirm user agrees to be added in subscription Image 1 Screenshot 30

If that option " Only if user agrees" is enabled, then a check box for the opt-in will be added in the form.

Unfortunately, Campaign Monitor does not have that option, I can forward this as a feature request, but I cannot guarantee that this will be implemented anytime soon.

With regards to JotForm->Zapier->Campaign Monitor integration, unfortunately, I currently do not have a CM account. However, I do see that Zapier has a filter function:

Campaign Monitor Integration: Add opt in checkbox option to confirm user agrees to be added in subscription Image 2 Screenshot 41

You'll need to use the default check box and probably the action "Text Contains". See if that one works.

    Apologies for the inconvenience.

Thank you. I was able to get it to work on Zapier.

If a direct update to the CM integration can be made, that would be great! Thanks for adding the feature request. I know your team must be busy.

We are terribly sorry for the delay, but we are happy to inform you that this is now implemented in the same way as with our MailChimp integration.

Select 'Only when user agrees' from the 'Send Contacts To Campaign Monitor' drop down.

This will add a field to your form which will serve as the opt-in check.

Hope you find this feature useful.

    Regards,
