Does Jotform have a way to set a price limit in an entry box?

Asked by parksidegroup on June 26, 2012 at 04:39 PM

I created a donation entry area, but I'd like it to have a limit on the amount a person can enter or submit. Is there a way o achieve this?

The number field is in section 5 ("Financial Information") of the demo. Enter a number higher than 500 and see what happens.

Actually, the solution will not work for your form because the donation field is part of the PayPal integrated payment field. A workaround involving a script will be necessary. We'll see what we can come up with and get back to you.

Great, thanks. Although my payment field is part of Authorize.net, not paypal. Unless they are part of the same system that I'm not aware of...

That's correct: The solution to which I referred won't work in either case (PayPal or Authorize.net).

OK. but you state there's workaround script. If there is it needs to be for Authorize.net and not Paypal..

    Hi again

After having a look at your CONTRIBUTE form, I'm assuming that you want the following functionality:

    1. The donation text box of the Payment Information field (hereinafter referred to as the donation box) should be populated with whatever amount is selected in the Contribution Amount field

    2. If "Other" is selected in the Contribution Amount field, the Other Amount field (hidden by default) should be shown and the donation box should be populated with whatever amount is entered in the Other Amount field

    3. If an amount greater than $2,750 is entered in the Other Amount field, the Payment Information field and submit (Contribute) button should both become hidden and replaced with a notice informing the user not to enter any amount greater than $2,750

    4. To prevent any discrepancy between either what is selected in the Contribution Amount field or entered in the Other Amount field and what is actually donated, the donation box should be read-only

Are all of these assumptions correct?
