Can I respond within the form to the sender?

For example, if John requests a volunteer for an event and I am trying to find volunteers, I want to let him know that I am working on it and when he can expect to know how many volunteers I am getting for him.  Can I do that within the form or does that have to be an email?

You can customize an autoresponder to have any message you would like to send to your users after they submit their forms, any further communication would have to be made through email.
