Can I create a form that sends emails to people I enter in a "To" field?

Asked by Jeroen on July 06, 2012 at 03:06 PM

For my site, I would like to be able to have a form that mimmicks a standard email programm.

It should be super basic, but I want visitors on my site to be able to:

    - enter an email address in a "To" field
    - enter his/her own name in the "from" field
    - type a message in a message box
    - press a "send" button, that sents the message to the email address in the "To" field.
    -

    Is this possible?

    Thank you.

    Hello Jeroen,

This can be possible using an Autoresponder.

You can read on this user guide on creating a sample send an email to a friend form.

But please be reminded that we do not condone spamming.  Once your form gets to be found as being used for spamming activities, your account will be suspended.

If you have further questions or other concerns, please do let us know.

    Thanks.

    Hello Liyam,

thank you for your fast reply. This does get me in the right direction. One more question: is it possible to set the sender name to the person`s email that is actually sending the email?

Example: visitor A on my site wants to tell his friend B that he should get an account on our site. Can the form be setup so friend B sees that it comes from vistor A?

    Thank you
PS: I am aware of the spamming capabilities and I am also working on ways to prevent this in my website admin. I dont want my account to be closed!

    Hi

In order to accomplish this, you would need to add several fields, and name them like these:

    Your name (person A) ,  (person A) Your email , Friend's name(Person B)  , friend's email (Person B), message (tex area field)

Then  you could setup a notification setting instead of an autoresponder.

In the sender Name and Sender Email s, you should select the fields (Your Name and Your Email )

The recipient name should be your email address,so you can see the notification

In the body , you could delete the default template and add only the necessary fields, like on this example:

You can even omit the text area field and just add your own wording on the body of the template

And last , you have  to setup a conditional logic, to make the notification work the way you want it

{friendsEmail} is the name of the field I have added for this example, but it may vary in your case, you need to find out what is the name of your field by click on the properties of the field.

Remember , if this is used for spamming, your account will be detected by our Phishing detector system, and it will get suspended in not time.

    Cheers!

    Jeanette
