    Dynamic Dropdown does not appear to be functioning properly

    I revise the list of items to display in the drop down (and it is a long list), but it is still showing some entries from the prior list (which was longer)

    I need to update the contents of the dropdown each week. but it needs to reflect what I am cutting and pasting in from a text file.

    I checked your form, and all three of your dropdowns show the options as they are set exactly, can you please provide more information as to which dropdown is not functioning properly? And if you can provide a screen shot of the entries you're getting vs the entries in the options list, that would help us investigate what the issue is.

    I emailed back, but not sure if I was supposed to do that here as opposed to an email. So I apologize if a repeat.

    I need to wipe out the existing list of options on a weekly basis and insert a new list.  It appears to replace my list, but it left items at the end that were on the prior list (the prior list was longer).

    If I eliminate all the items on my list, hit the "Update Wigit" button exit the form, go back in, part of the list is still there.  It isn't wiping out the list or perhaps not wiping out the entire list.

    Yes,
    The problem is when I remove all the options from the dropbox and then paste in an updated set, it still leaves in some of the old ones at the end of the list.
    I have attached the new list I want plugged in so you can see.

    Let me try to be a little clearer about what I am doing.
    There are six dynamic dropdowns on the form (representing different line items that may be submitted). All six will have the same dropdown selections available.
    But I need to eliminate the full list each week and replace it with a new list, and I am cutting and pasting the new list in from a text file (I sent a sample in my prior email).
    In other words I want to wipe out the prior list and replace it with a new list of drop down available selections. And it doesn’t seem to be wiping out all of the pior list when I cut them out and then paste in the new list.

    Did you try to send any file attachment. Unfortunately we are unable to receive attachments in forum post.

    I would suggest you to please copy paste the complete list you want to add in dynamic Dropdown widget and we will try to replicate the issue you are having.     I did send the email you requested earlier today to support@jotform.com and used the required subject line.  That email included the contents I wish to load in my dynamic dropdown.  But have not heard anything back.   Can you confirm you received it?

    I'm currently performing a test on the list you have provided to the dynamic dropdown widget. For the meantime, can you please try clearing your form's cache and try to update again the widget? Here's the guide on How to Clear Your Form Cache?.

    Thank you, I cleared the cache but it still does not work properly.

     

    Try this simple test, and you can see what is happening.

    open the first dynamic dropdown, labeled; 1.Job/Block/Lot

    cut out all the response options form the list and hit the update button.

    then go right back into the form and you will see several of the options still listed.  The list should have been totally eliminated.

    Sorry for any inconvenience, I have just done the test on your form as you advised, and it worked perfectly for me, please see image:

     

    If you open your form, you should be able to see the empty dropdown, I'm not sure why it's not reflecting on your end, can you please check now and confirm?

    So I have some good news and I have some bad news.

    The good news is I believe I found the problem (after following your instructions that lead to such) which looks like it is due to the widget having several errors namely an uncaught type error along with some other error involving reading the data that results in an undefined split (may have something to do with the field disappearing on my end).

    As a reult it looks like this may be causing it to not holding the data properly such as in your example when it's removed, updated, and upon exiting then re-entry the data remains in the widget that I was able to replicate.

    So, that's also the bad news because this means the widget is bugged. I am sending a bug report about this problem to our developers so that we can get this resolved as soon as possible.

    Actually I'll take that all as good news, as you have replicated the problem and it will go into the repair process.

    Even if in the end I need to redo part of my form, at least the problem will be resolved moving forward!

    Unfortunately, not yet, we generally don't promise any time frame since sometimes it takes awhile longer than expected depending on the issue and the developers workload of issues prior to yours but, they try to resolve these problems in a timely manner as quickly as they can.

    This issue is still open and we'll update you as soon as we know something.

    Hi, sorry for the late response and for any inconvenience that this may have caused you. I rechecked your form and based from the comment on this thread. Please avoid using the dot (.) or the asterisk (*) on the widget param. Unless you use them to make empty option or to make it required. Doing so will result to a buggy widget. This are special symbols that should be use properly.

    Also removing the entire widget value param and clicking the update button will make the widget return to its original state( the default value). We will fix that but for the time being please do not add multiple dots (.) if you're not intended to use it as an empty option.
